Apparently, the biggest dispute in getting all these licensed gaming characters into the film was their size. Nintendo wouldn't say yes to using Bowser unless he was bigger than the other characters in the bad guy meeting. Capcom also had the same argument for their street fighter characters. So funny.

Something that a lot of people don't think about, and something that makes Calhoun's back stories so much more gut wrenching is that one of the bugs ate her husband, and since they turn into what they eat, the bug turned into her husband. So she had to look into the face of her newly wed husband while she killed him.

They give you everything you needed to believe that king candy was turbo, but it’s so subtle that you never put the puzzle pieces together. My absolute favorite part with king candy was when he talked with Ralph about venelope. The scariest part was that king candy was completely right. Venelope would risk getting the game unplugged. He just hid the facts that would save venelope and make her back to normal.

I love king candy/turbo. he’s so disgustingly excessively evil and yet it never feels over the top or nonsensical. he was an egotistical asshole in the first place who turned into a twisted psychotic egotistical asshole after he lost everything because he was an asshole and it was entirely his fault. He technically has a tragic backstory. It’s been confirmed that he was effectively living in the shadows alone for like 15 years before sugar rush was plugged in. Probably why he comes off as sorta jumpy now. But he was a bad person already before any of that even happened, and it didn’t humble him, it just made him worse. I feel like that’s honestly a pretty rare sort of character

There are a few references here and there across various forms of media, like one in Borderlands 2 (Enter the Konami Code on the "Press Start" screen) which I'm pretty sure unlocks a setting called "Extra Wubs" that does literally nothing. Or one in TAWOG, where the Space Invader-esc character uses the code for various cheats like free money or invincibility.

The little orange character with the long nose is Q*bert from the game of the same name. It's an 8-bit game created in 1982 and was ported to many of the 8-bit and hand-held systems as well as prevalent in arcades. Wikepedia describes it as " 2D action game with puzzle elements that uses isometric graphics to create a pseudo-3D effect. The objective of each level in the game is to change every cube in a pyramid to a target color by making Q*bert, the on-screen character, hop on top of the cube while avoiding obstacles and enemies. Players use a joystick to control the character. ... The Q*bert character became known for his "swearing" and "Q*bertese sound" - an incoherent phrase made of synthesized speech generated by the sound chip and a speech balloon of nonsensical characters that appear when he collides with an enemy." Q*bert was a fun game that could get fiendishly difficult at higher levels and has an instantly recognisable looking playfield. It's worth a look at some of the ports, you might even find a MAME version if you're into those.

The bad guy label is REALLY deceptive for poor Ralph. I mean, his backstory in the games cut scene paints him as being the main character since it shows WHY he wrecks things; cause he had his simple home in his stump, which got moved into the dump so the Nicelanders could build their apartment building where he lived. So, naturally, he reacts in justified anger to having his home disrupted. It's not the best way to handle it, but it's understandable. Of course, don't think I'm saying Felix is a bad guy himself. He didn't have the apartment block built, he's just fixing the damage. I wouldn't even say the Nicelanders are bad guys themselves as they are just living in this apartment building when here comes Ralph, destroying their homes for no reason. Felix undoes the damage and Ralph gets booted out to the mud puddle for causing destruction that's unwarrented. Of course, this is all in the story of the game itself, not of the movie. Two different stories here. Ralph just owns the title of "bad guy" cause it's simple as he reacts the wrong way by getting made and being destructive, with Felix being the clear "good guy" cause he undoes the damage. Only issue is when the title becomes a defining trait that the other game characters sadly support that the world is black and white. Good guys can be trusted, bad guys are to be avoided, despite the fact that at the end of the day they are all essentially actors who have some quirks to their personality that make them act how they do.

What i love about this movie is the amount of characters and gaming companies that appear in this film is just glorious Also i think the cybugs are worse than the xenomorphs

i feel like if you watch the sequel u gotta keep in mind that it's just a big add and the character assassination is Heavy, other than that it's a fun movie if you enjoy references

He was created to be the bad guy of the game that's his job but that doesn't mean thats who he is in real life. You can't blame Ralph for getting upset or angry based on the way the guys from the apartment treat him.

21:49 TECHNICALLY he didn't lie, he was just wrong in the end. He was right about her not being able to leave the game as a glitch, he just didn't predict that she would be able to control her glitching and that player would actually love her.

The orange thing with the trunk is called Q-Bert from the game with the same name, and the other animals near him when Ralph gave him the cherry are also in that game, they are the bad guys.

Love this movie. I after this made a list of what everything will be if it were in a candy chocolate world, food and juice world and fruit and vegetable world. This movie is so colourful satisfying funny cool and entertaining. The second one is even better. Thx for reacting. I watched this movie so many times. I created my own characters like i got some inspiration from Sugar Rush, the characters and names so creative and cool and everything looks so pretty and delicious and so colourful.
