What I also love about these movies is that each character's super powers are related to their role in the family; the father having to always be the strong one, the mother being pulled and streched in million directions, the hyperactive younger brother, the teenage girl who just wants to disapear and the baby - unknown potential.
@kuivia2 жыл бұрын

to add on to this- the father: go to solution is always physical / direct and hands-on the mother: having to constantly be flexible and adaptable to a variety of situations and people the brother: youth, freedom, passion, reckless excitement and optimism, always in a rush, competitive and overconfident the daughter: the conflict of wanting to be simultaneously invisible and seen (combined with feeling invisible even when capable of being seen), that teenage phase of insecurity and figuring out your identity the baby: unpredictable, extreme range of emotions and desires

Fun fact: The director, Brad Bird, initially got Lily Tomlim, the original voice of Miss Frizzle from Magic School Bus, to do the voice of Edna, and when Brad Bird did an impression of what he wanted her to sound like she said he was so good that he should just do the voice himself. In the film the 40s is a golden age of heros until restrictions got put in place that they started ignoring them in the end. In real life comics had a golden age in the 40s until restrictions got put in place that hurt the industry until they started being pulled back on with even some comics ignoring

He composed the music of Up (won an Oscar) Ratatouille, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy, the new Star Trek trilogy, the last two Planet of the Apes movie, The Batman (2022) and of course The Incredibles 2. By the way the influence of the classic, 60’s James Bond movies really obvious. Not just the movie’s setting, or Syndrome’s island, but Giacchino inspired from them, especially John Barry’s score, You Only Live Twice (1967). This movie is pretty heavily inspired by the golden age of comics, mostly Marvel, but really just old comics in general. It often gets called the best Fantastic 4 movie made, because it succeeds where the other ones failed - at it's core it's about *Vin Diesel voice* family. The villain who shows up at the end is even directly inspired by one of the first F4 villains, Mole Man.

Please can we get Edna's backstory movie? Pleeeeeeeaase? Here's how I'd pitch it: No rags to riches story. We've got enough of those, and we all know goddamn well Edna Mode is too fabulous to have come from nothing. Born into the high life fashion world, the thing that makes her different is a desire to design for supers, as well as a genius with tech. Think rich girl who had all the resources to make a difference, except she actually did. She made a name for herself by being the first designer to incorporate their powers into the suit. We see her become the icon we know her to be. Life couldn't be better. Then the cape controversy happens, and supers dying from cape related accidents start appearing regularly in the papers. The movies about her coming back on top despite it. Maybe even show that the other designers were paid by bad guys to add capes, but Edna only did it because she thought it was the trend, so of course because the other designers have some kind of protection, her name is essentially the only one being smeared. I should reiterate: DO NOT ABSOLVE HER OF GUILT. Make it very clear she made a serious mistake that cost many innocent supers' lives, but that doesn't mean she should have to pay for it the rest of her life. How does she do it? She remembers who she is, and what her God given talent is: designing super suits with the supers in mind. And thus, she threatens to start firing anyone who dares to try and add capes to her designs going forward, but because all these people have worked with her for years, not one of them dare to contradict her. If she says no capes, no capes it shall be. Before long, the cape trend dies out until they're only ever seen in Halloween costumes, and cape related accidents never darken a newspaper headline again. Until the ending, where Edna's walking out of a room for a meeting, leaving behind a newspaper showing a super being slandered in the papers, thus starting the lawsuits.

To answer your question regarding running on the water... It's referred to as "hydroplaning" Example: It's like skimming stones in a pond or lake. Another example is when it first begins to rain and the water hasn't soaked into the ground yet, if you drive your vehicle fast enough your tires actually leave the pavement and your driving on top of the water... There are some lizards that can move so quickly they actually skim the surface of the water.

It's really interesting seeing you react to this one specially after you've watched MCU, I saw this in cinema when I was 8 so at the time there wasn't an MCU and I was too young for the Marvel movies now I can see the influence. For me this is still in my top 5 animated movies timeless imo. Also the game of this movie was pun intended incredible a rare occasion where they made a good game based off a movie if you know you know

Every compliment you gave the movie is valid bro, i wish youtube allowed voice comments cause i can ramble on about how many fantastic things this movie did right and why modern movies are failing at it. And ofcourse the music, my god the music

This is still legitimately one of THE GREATEST movies I have ever seen. Better than anything Marvel can produce, better than DC, better than most of what Disney puts out anymore. It is so incredible, pun intended. It is a good family movie that is enjoyable at any age, I can't believe how good it is.

It's one of the most well-crafted films of the last fifty years. In addition to being a mix of superhero adventure, part mystery, with a strong dose of comedy, the film actually has a conservative orientation: A huge theme, is the centrality and the elevated status of family life (as opposed to other lifestyles, like unmarried super hero adventurer, or super villain extraordinaire - which are all depicted as being flashy, but ultimately not nearly as good.)

If you haven’t already seen Tarzan I highly recommend, Phil Collins was putting out straight fire on that soundtrack, it’s so good

This is straight up one of the best superhero movies ever. It doesn't need a ton of crossovers or even huge names; just a good story well executed.

One detail I love in this is that when Mr. Incredible finds the device with the video message, he’s amazed by how flat the monitor is because it’s supposed to be the 60s.

You definitely need to react to Incredibles 2. Both movies are pretty much perfect

Music score of that of a 007 spy thriller from old school movies , it's a Masterpiece for this unique nuclear family/spy/hero dynamic. It's better than a lot of MCU movies in my opinion.

15:43 The benefit of a cape is conveying motion in comic books, particularly for flying superheroes.

Yup they actually referenced the robot going rouge earlier when Mr. Incredible went to fight the first robot. "Let me guess it got smart enough to wonder why it had to take orders?"

Remember being a kid and loving the flash and speed powers and I had goosebumps during the dash chase scene and especially when the music pumps up once he starts running on the water! I’m 26 now and it still gives me a little tingle remembering how I felt watching it as a kid 😂 absolute banger of a film

15:53 The capes actually are there because superhero's are from comic books. In a comic book it's often hard to convey motion especially in the sky and capes provide a convenient way to do so.

12:10 Finally someone who knows my pain. I have to get an mri every year to make sure the cyst on my frontal lobe doesn't grow or impede anything more than it already does (I have impulse control issues because of it), and since they can't remove it cause it's not immedietly dangerous and I'm too young for the surgery to be worth the risk, I have to deal with them annually. Before I turned 18 I had to get them twice a year. I have major anxiety when I can't move, not the same as claustrophobia, but similar enough that it continues to be traumatic every year.
