My grandma fled from amritsar when she was 12 along with her family during the partition and moved to lahore. She is 90 years old today and still remembers growing up in amritsar.

This border has a lot of history attached to it .. so many millions have crossed it since ancient times.. so many people were killed trying to get to one side or the other during the bloody partition of India in 1947. The legacy of this border can be experienced only while one is at the border and spends some time exploring its history.

Don't limit yourself to certain places please visit every part of india then you will realize it is the only country in the world having all different landscapes and weather you get desert plains mountains sea coast hills plateau and also the oldest plateau in the world cold desert and hot desert both and lots of greenery I would recommend you visit northeast india too I know you will love it

GT roads is till Howrah the sister city of Kolkata in West Bengal. From Kolkata there's Jessore road which is also very old and is till Jashore in Bangladesh.

If you are a Nepali or Indian citizen you don't even need passport but if you are a foreigner you need to inform Indian authority for entering India you can do this online or go to Indian Embassy in Nepal

@@nomaddan It's only about 200km from Amritsar (border) and you are in the foothills of the Himalayas. Then it's heaven everywhere in Himanchal Pradesh, Kashmir, Laddakh, Uttrakhand. The roads are good everywhere. Can't say the same about drivers :)

Talking of professionalism, note the Pakistani (immigration?) officer in White shirt. Note is working, note his attitude, that's how a professional should be. Facilitating, getting it done and with a smile, also note how he was waving Frenchy to just move on, no problem man.

This seems like a very complicated process. So it looks like you got a visa on arrival. I have an eVisa for a year multiple entry into India but it doesn't cover land border crossing. I wonder if I can get back into India through Wagah or is special permission needed.

For himalayas - in himanchal- visit -mcleodganj ..tibetan settlement,, ..kasol … where all hippies go… manali honeymoon destination ,,spiti valley-cold desert … in leh ladhakh -one hell of a ride!! In kashmir gulmarg a skying paradise And in uttarakhand,, auli ..skying paradise too.., mussorrie near dehradun .. in north east himalayas..sikkim -gangtok,lachung! Nepal and bhutan too!
