That Mehano 6060 was from a limited edition train set from President's Choice released in 2001. They run great, and need virtually zero maintenance. Somebody looks to have replaced the stock coupler with a Kadee. The Bachmann has a split gear (common for Bachmann).

Lived in Simcoe for a couple of years so Woodstock was a convenient train show. Usually on the small side. Found myself at the Fairgrounds for the Spring and Fall bird auctions to sell/ buy all manner of birds from budgies to Swans. I used to breed ornamental pheasants from around the World. Happy memories.

can't wait to see what else you snagged at the show. I got two locos and four cars at our first (and sadly only) train show of the year. Three of those four cars were passenger. All for about $100,US.

Not a bad haul. 50% success is better than I've had at some open days. At least they all tried to run. A bit of a service and I'm sure they'll all be back to working as expected. Happy Modelling Mon

I spent a little more this time, but only went for athearn, atlas, walthers type. I wanted all wheel drive and good weight.

A nice cache of loco's there. Aye, there's a bit of servicing needing done and this split gear business is quite common with the 'Pancake Motor' locos now-a-days. The original gears were brass so no splitting. Nice video. Looking forward to Part 2. All the best in that snow, sir. Keep safe. Cheers!

Nice haul, Dave! The UP loco needs work: The motor and gear towers are mounted wrong. When you check the gears, see if an Ernst gear system was installed. This slows a locomotive down. I found it in one of my Blue Box FP45s, and I summarily got rid of them in favour of proper gears.

Hi Dave , great score mate , the idea of buying second hand locomotives in n scale , not cheap and in most cases only few bucks less than a new one , then there's delivery costs , i have an bachmann 060 , bought a new motor for it and a new pickup $20 but after delivery cost $60 , and i still haven't got it running, money that i should have spent towards a new loco , lesson learned, maybe should have gone ho lol , have a good one mate

That's quite a haul! I'm holding off on any new rollingstock purchases until the the Barrie show. When I was a kid, CNR 6060 used to run excursions between Toronto and Niagara (I think). I remember it blasting by the Burlington Mall.

The Via locomotive from Bachmann sounds like it has a split gear, but at least the steam engine was a win. So, I will be waiting to see more from part 2. Till then.

Dave, I love the 6060... something like that here in Australia would fetch a few hundred $$ easily... Just remember you are testing these on an incline so they have an uphill battle going against them to start off with.. A nice score.. I look forward to seeing whats in Part 2.......

It's all about the video logistics Tim. The controller is at the opposite side of the layout, so I can't video the loco moving off if it's not next to the controller.

I know as a Scotsman lol you don't like high costs, but you need high quality lol. But just as a note on sound dcc, the decoders to avoid are the MRC sound decoders. Most sound owners don't like the sound quality. I think it is debatable since so much depends on the speaker quality. Most other Digitrax (lowest cost), TCS, Soundtrax, ESU are good but expensive. I actually like the value of the Digitrax sound as they have editable sound projects. And if you can get them on sale! Even better. I have done the loading new sound file in a few locos, one a Backmann Doodlebug, a Proto 2000 SW-8 and the speaker makes or breaks it. I myself prefer the QSI decoders but they are hard to get a hold of and some hate them even more than MRC.

It may be just be me but kd s are over rated.over priced.like the old horn hooks seem a lot less trouble!!! and money!!

I like the look of knuckle couplers, but for an imperfect track like mine, they just don't work.
