I have been going to every single Indy 500 since like 93 lol. I look forward to the Indy 500 more than any other event or holiday lol. It's just so much magic. Energy in the air all week. May in Indianapolis is incredible.

Actually, my Grandfather started working there in 1909 with the ballon races, and was parking cars in the infield in 1911. I sit in the Northwest Vista, turn 4 / straighaway, J Stand, this year in the H stand. I park at someone's house on 25 th st. Never park inside that neighborhood, you wont get out for hours. It's a short walk to to me seats. After the race a brisk walk back to the car and out 25th st to the highway. Some times we can get back to our hotel near 86th st and be swimming in the pool an hour after the race.

I've been going to IMS since 1977 and I hope for your first visit that you had a BLAST and consider coming back again this year! That said being that you were at pit entry how close was it between Newgarden and Ericsson to hitting the attuneator? If you come back I hope that we can meet up! AWESOME JOB with the video! Oh, and I have to say that my seat is at the Start Finish line and it was CRAZY when Josef came and celebrated with us after the win!

Good video. I would recommend camping at the track. I wouldn't do it any other way. I didn't have any traffic coming in on Friday. We did all of the track infield stuff on Saturday and then slept until about 8am on raceday. Then went back & hung out in the campground. Some people pulled out later Sunday night after the traffic cleared, but we stayed until Monday morning & had no traffic at all on the way home.

Just a recommendation, if you return, get seats in one of the turns, (I prefer turn 2, where I have had tickets for over 25 years). Much better view if you can get up high in the stands (as opposed to getting high in the stands, I don't recommend that). Glad you enjoyed the event.

Thanks for the advice! I’d love watching on a turn. The shade would be tough to give up but for a better viewpoint definitely could be worth it. Appreciate the comment 🤙🏻

I have to say John Turn 2 is the only place I have NEVER watched the race as I have been everywhere else to watch the race in the previous 47 races I have been to!

I'd actually strongly recommend seats in either the 1st or 3rd turns, not too high so you have a good sensation of speed, but where you can see them coming at you down the front or back straightaways. Note though, getting such seats in the 1st turn would be difficult. Seats in particular areas are sold preferentially to those who had them the year before. Some of those 1st turn seats you're great-grandfather would have to have passed them down! :D But 3rd turn seats are very good too. We've sat there for the past 15 years and love them. You can see the cars fussing and fighting all the way down the backstretch, and having to sort it all out before hitting Turn 3 - Indy turns are usually best taken single file. On parking, strongly consider parking a few blocks away on a side street. You can probably get in faster and more easily than waiting in your car a parking lot space. And it'll be a little easier on the way out too. And that was a great little "my experience" video!

@@vincident Thanks! Appreciate the tips and feedback. Being on a turn would be sweet. We did reorder the same seats for next year though in case we do go back, but down the line I’d definitely try a turn such as #3. The shade though is tough to beat lol. Thanks again for chiming in!

If you want to sit in the front stretch sit in paddock row AA you need to go through a ticket broker to find them but you are the first row with only the walkway in front of you. So all the leg room you want. You want to go to the bathroom just get up Noone in front of you. This was my 40th in a row. We sat on the viewing mounds in turn 3 super cheap but general admission and need to get there early to get best spots. But you big a comfy chair a blanket and you will never be more comfortable at a race. Like you said you have to see it live to appreciate it.

@@kendog0731 for me those were Mom and Dad's tickets and you can go through a broker if you want to but you can also upgrade as well! This will be my 48th STRAIGHT Indianapolis 500 with my 1st one being in 1977 as my Dad used to be AJ Foyt's fueler! I hope that we can meet up in a couple of months and trade stories!
