Joseph is a class act. I had the opportunity to meet him in Long Beach his rookie year and he went above and beyond in helping me record a long-form video essentially making fun of my niece for not coming to the race weekend with me. I'm a professional entertainer, he was not. He was so good, so funny, so smart, and ad-libbed so naturally. We've been around each other many times since then, Josef is just a great guy, the type of guy you just want to root for. He's a deserving Champion, an extremely talented driver, and a wonderful family man. Congratulations to Josef, Ashley, and Team Penske.

Do you really think they would have called that last Red flag with just 2 to go if Newgarden was leading? HELL NO! It would have finished under caution. That race was stolen from at least two drivers. Oh and one more thing, that little stunt of going into the stands was copied by another Penske driver later that night at Coke 600. Now we know its not unique to Josef, but marketing instructions to the drivers from the same racing camp.

@@TheFinalMeowntdown The zig zagging brought him and Marcus below the Pit Commit line, which by rule requires them to pit, but zig-zagged back onto the track. Had the rules been followed, they both would have been put at back of the lead lap, and guess who would have won.

My wife and I were watching the race together and were happy to see the race end under a green flag. To many times I have seen the race have a caution with under 5 laps and that was it. Any one that complained is just a sore loser. I like the green/white/checker that NASCAR has and would like to see the same with IndyCar but not for the 500. I am a lifelong fan of IndyCar and will always be one. I think that the red flags were the best way to go. Thanks for a great race and congratulations to Josef for his win. I think that the purchase of the track and the series by Mr. Penske was the best thing for both him and the track. Thanks for a great race and see you next year.

That was a totally ballsy move going deep into the pit lane entrance to shake off his pursuers who were drafting on him. He just barely made it out and his opponents had to break off the drafting or crash into the pit wall entrance. Your desire to win supercedes the consequence of the dangers you put yourself in to win.

This race showed why IndyCar needs to have NASCAR-style overtime. As I would do it, it would be the same green-white-checker two-lap shootout as in NASCAR, however, unlike NASCAR (where if the leader takes the white flag, the race finishes on the next flag regardless of yellow or checker), if the lead driver DOES NOT TAKE THE CHECKERED FLAG, as many additional green-white-checker attempts as necessary are done until the lead driver takes the checkered flag under green. That I would do to satisfy casual fans who will only accept a green flag finish even if it takes 20+ attempts to do it.
