In my opinion its best to defeat a boss 1 time, then advance to the next boss, if that particular boss wiped you, then redo the run on that confession boss only, untill you defeat it. There will be alot of trial and error because from here on out bosses have unique strategies required to beat them. Its only gna get harder the further you advance. The Denial boss (brain) was just a hold in the hand to introduce you to the boss mechanic of the game.

although there is a little bit of incentive to keep your survivors for the next confession, i personally just take one of them and then pick new heroes, mostly because we did unlock most of them after a successful run. i havent tried this myself (saw it on one of the trailers), but the Bounty Hunter can apparently be recruited at any in, theres like a button you can click on the screen where your guys are resting. the Flagellant is currently my favorite hero, hes so fun to play and his story is so cool. the Leper and the Highwayman are right behind. awesome videos btw!

He didn't heal stress when he should have. Went for damage, blocks, heals, etc that should not have been a priority over stress heal.

@@mst4705 To be fair a solid half of all Meltdowns in the whole run were against the Dreaming General because Odd didn't remember about hitting the root. If he did (or tried) then he could've gone a lot longer before getting any stress checks.

You could try and fail harder confessions, your flame gets buffed with each fail. The later confessions are balanced on you having more skills and better party comps, but don't be afraid to try stuff, there's not a "right way" to do things in this game (and that's why it's so good). You beat things first try, keep going till you hit a wall

That beautiful moment when you realise Caz has enough steam to outlast the final lock, haha! I don't know how you pulled it off, but very well done, Odd. I had a lot more going in my favour and I still lost my first encounter with the brain. Can't wait to see the start of your next run! In my experience thus far, I'd say it's a good idea to go back and do Denial again, as a means to farm candles and to hopefully buff your surviving squad with memories so they're stronger for the next confession.

Right? I've arrived there on my first try with way better odds than him but I did a poor job on the order of locks I focused in, and ended up defeated. I didn't think he'd pull it off with everybody hating everybody on his team. xD

You couldn't buy the pipeweed at the beginning because you did not have any inventory space. You were able to buy the Whiskey because you already had one and it stacks up to 2.

One thing you should probably make a note of is that I think the tutorial for Death's Door mentioned that passing a turn with a hero on Death's Door will take them off it... so maybe to 1 HP?

No, it will heal a percentage amount. So its way better to pass a turn on deaths door than use heal, if you dont have Vestal.

I haven't actually picked up the game yet because Odd has inspired me to pick up a few too many great looking games in a short period and I can only budget so much before I'm acting like I have no impulse control again 🤣

I’d hit the hero shrines up as much as you can when you get the opportunity; not only for lore but it gives your characters way more flexibility :) the bounty hunter is also a good unlock. He pops up at the inn on a poster where the characters are resting, so watch out. He costs four candles (that are taken out at the end of the run) but comes with all mastered skills. He hits like a truck. You can use him as a sacrificial lamb also for a region as his death doesn’t matter too much, and his relationships and meltdowns aren’t as consequential. Just don’t elect him if you get to a hero shrine lol. Good luck.

1. The worship tokens on smaller cultists once at two points allow them to use the "Worship" ability on the larger ones and heal them/transfer the worship token over to them. Once a big cultist enemy has worship on them they can use their special very dangerous move, the results of which I won't spoil. 2. Flagellant isn't the best option for a starting hero until you've gone through a handful of runs, he has several special mechanics that may potentially make the game harder and thrash you with additional tokens (given how you haven't quite grasped the basic ones yet I don't recommend bringing him along for now) 3. The Bounty Hunter can be hired at any inn when his signature is present (it's always in the middle of the screen in the background) it's a random chance if he appears. For the cost of candles (removed only at the end of your run) you can bring him along for **one** region. He has all of his skills already unlocked and doesn't have his own story via the shrines, it's like a temporary buff to help you with things like lairs. Nothing carries over with him, and he's replaced by the hero you chose to temporarily discard once you reach the next inn so be sure to remove all of his items/artifacts when you're done with the region 4. You can't "choose" confessions until you've completed the entire game, you'll always have to move forward. From now on you've also unlocked three new regions and you'll have to go through three "sections" instead of two after Denial. 5. Invest in unlocking pets/stagecoach slots/upgrades - they really help! 6. If all fails, you can pass when on death's door to heal the hero a little.

4. I started playing 1.0 on fresh profile and I've been able to backtrack from 3rd to 2nd confession without problems. Maybe you can't choose confessions if you're completing them in first try?

Greetings from Ukraine!🇺🇦 Love your vids man,wish you’d upload at least twice a day As for advices-just try playing current confession you’ve reached,denial isn’t very worth replaying because it’s shorter and has only 2 regions,unlike other four confessions. Also about candles:I recommend you unlock bounty hunter at first,then spend half of earned candles into stagecoach(until you hit 4 stagecoach slots),and half anywhere you’d like. But it’s your playthrough and we won’t mind,if you decide to do something in another way :)

Long time viewer and have played since DD2 came out on Epic 2yrs ago. Your intuitions are sharp enough after so many experiences with strategy games so you should trust that more than anything. Beyond that, specific tips could be to find hero shrines and try using gacha system on Working fields and unlock the HEALING SALVE in combat items section. Keep up the good work !❤😅🎉🎉

my favourite combo so far is R4: Vestal with heals and concecrations, R3: Plaguedoctor for blind, DoT, Heal, R2: Flaggelant for dps, DoT and emergency self heal, R1: Leper for DPS & Tank note that you have to get 2 or 3 heroshrines with the vestal to unlock both fo the concecrations

If I remember correctly, your first run of EA DD2, you also killed the Denial boss on your blind attempt. So maybe that first run is just blessed to succeed against the odds, like how Caz stood resolute. What's also funny is that they nerfed the Denial boss for v1.0; the locks originally had... I think 80 HP each, down to 60 now. For all that this run survived: A Dreaming General damage race, a Shambler you willingly walked into, and the negative relationships... well, not everything went right, of course, but enough did!

I've never played DD2 but in DD1 the plague doctor is a more useful utility, and is likely better suited for your current team rather than the jester. btw love your videos and wish you the best with the series!

Disclaimer: not a veteran I'd prefer to watch an organic moving forward, party wipe, starting over with first confession until ultimate success. It will more clearly show meta progression than each confession attempted in isolation of each other.

In the end at the mountain, you don't have to worry that much about relationships after you leave the inn (only inside the in), as the mountain is pretty much the last region and all relationships reset if you lose or win, and also everyone will agree on fighting as you can't skip the cultist fights

Congrats. I only made it through with the Gravedigger (my party had no luck with Death's Door rolls). You could have buffed your characters (I decided I wanted to play the original team again to further their iindividual back stories) rather than buy new ones for Resentment run. Make certain the buy the flame buff for your coach. Good luck.

Tough boss, but you made it :) What I did for beating the game was just going forward at least - I never went back in any capacity. I picked a few heroes I liked the most, and kept unlocking skills and stuff for those guys and yeah. Home run in the end. Tried to do the lair bosses on the last run before the mountain to be as strong as possible - got a lot of use from combat items (so helpful). Mainly went with characters that are not so position-locked and could flow really well around the positions (highway man, jester and man-at-arms feel strong, like a tier above the rest).

I started to play yesterday and cannot give you much advice at the moment. Loosing a character is not as bad it was in the first since you only loose him for the current expedition. Losing an expedition (as I have my second one) is not that bad either as you keep the candles you acquired. Candles are the most important things in my opinion.

I feel like if you lose at the later confessions they'll lock you out of doing them and you have to run from denial. That's how it feels this is deisgned at least. (Currently in the second confession by I suspect if you lose it you get sent back to denial).

Is it worthwhile to be so hung up on not causing stress, especially when facing the final boss? In the first game, causing stress was a pain because you had to pay to remove it between missions, but it looks like it gets cleared in this game. Wouldn't the strategy be to pump up the heroes with stress as far as you can because it doesn't matter after the boss fight is over?
