I went camping on lake Sam Rayburn 2 years ago, & a super strong cold front blew in at dark. 80 mph winds coming straight at me from across the lake! Blew so hard that it broke my tent poles! Someone may have already mentioned this, but when you hook up your safety chains they should cross under the trailer. In other words, the left chain on the trailer should attach on the right side of the hitch and vice versa. This is so if you ever have the hitch /ball disconnect, the frame will fall onto the chains and not onto the road. This is trailering 101. Now, on with your video...

Thanks Craig, I appreciate that! The bunk bed…..I’m still procrastinating on that, so nothing to update just yet. Dimensions are right at 5.5’ wide x 10’ long (exterior). I'm enjoying your channel and have really liked watching your build. I think what you built would be a great deal heavier than what I would want to build. Have you weighed it yet? Just curious about that. I didn't see the upgrade to the axle. Did you just up-size the rims or did you add brakes to the trailer too? I was wondering about that. It is obviously too heavy for you to push yourself without the winch in the garage. It does look well insulated and looks to be great. I will continue to watch your channel and know I'm behind, but wondering if you have any plans to finish off the rear galley? Anyway, very nice looking camper and it looks very sturdy. Thanks for sharing your experience. All the best, Pat Ps. Your wife is a great sport for camping in the cold like that. My wife wouldn't have ventured outside at all. LOL!!!
@BrianWatersOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I have not weighed it but I’m guessing it to be round 2500lbs. The trailer is 850lbs and my best calculation of the materials added to it was around 1700 lbs. The axle is rated at 3,000lbs so I did not swap that out yet.

Great videos on the camper build! Two questions - did you ever consider starting with enclosed cargo trailer for the build out and did you consider building so it could be removed by unbolting the "foundation" and have a lift from ceiling to slightly lift and give you functionality of trailer if needed? Gig 'em!!!
@BrianWatersOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Kenny! 1st question - I never really considered using a cargo conversion trailer mainly because I want the ability to store this in my garage. I could not find a cargo trailer that fit that bill, so I built this camper as large as I possibly could and still have the ability to pull it into my garage for storage. 2nd question - "technically" I can remove this from the trailer if I absolutely had to, as it is only bolted down to the cargo floor (albeit in about 15 places).

Did u notice your safety chain on the trailer was built so 1 of the chain is on the left side and the other 1 was on the other side? The reason why is for safety if used properly and I say most 90% of people hook them wrong just like u did. A hiway patrolman pulled me over 1 time and said the reason I pulled u over is for your safety chains. I said crap did 1 come off and he said no but their not on correct. He could see I didn’t know so he told me to come back and explain it to me. He said if my trailer comes off it will fall and jab in and flip my car. But if u cross cross them it will catch it so I can pull over and he said it is the law but since I didn’t get cocky about it he just gave me a warning
