Hi Mike! I did something similar coming back from the black hills in South Dakota after UTV riding for a couple of weeks. I pulled into the fuel station just west of the reservoir at Chamberlain S.D. Shut the truck off and filled it with diesel. When ready to leave it wouldn't start. It had started sputtering and had very little speed when I pulled into the station. Apparently ran out as I was at the pump. I had pretty good luck because I have very little knowledge about "bleeding the air" or purging. As we were trying to get it to "purge" with little or no luck a fellow pulled up to get fuel next to us. He looked like a mechanic so I just asked him if he knew anything about getting my F-250 diesel started after running out of diesel. Low and behold he did! It took him about two minutes and my truck was once again running great. I gave him a $20 bill he reluctantly took and I thanked him and we were on our way. The bad day turned into a great day because he willingly helped me out.

At 40:00 you can see a rainy day project for your sometimes helpful welder aka MBTS The pin “holes” are a little wollered out and could stand to be welded in to fit the pins tighter.

Tip from from someone someone that pulls a Heavy Haul lowboy everyday. Drop all the air in your trailer before loading. This will help prevent blowing a airbag when loading heavy.

Hey guys !!! Another great video, you guys have a lot of fun, joking and laughing with each other. I like your ( new to you all ) lowboy, it seems to pull and haul a load great. I remember the first drop deck lowboy that I saw in the winter of 1975, when a coal company dropped a D8 dozer off at here at the farm and started getting ready to strip coal for my dad. And I thought that it was unique to see the lowboy come apart like that, to unload or load a piece of equipment like that on the lowboy . Be careful and stay safe and keep on hauling equipment and laughing and joking with each other. As always, Jeffrey !!!

Great job Mike. Ok here is a few ideas for you. 1 think about installing electronic scales! ( they work! They help you make sure your at weight. They accurately weigh each axle. ) ask Hoover if thier legal. 2. You can I stall a 20.000 lbs steer axle. Or stench your frame and put a tag axle.. and 3. To make sure you relign up to the trailer pull forward strait and back up with out touching the wheel.

That ole Mack sounds good! It takes a little time but you’ll get the hang of the lowboy. Just make sure you are always straight with trailer.
@BlueDually4x43 жыл бұрын
Don't forget that 79,840 was with the truck and dozer running on fumes and you not sitting in it. If you are 160 pounds you are right at 80k... on fumes. Without knowing axle spread the triples on the trailer bump you up to 43k-45k instead of 34k for just a tandem. I know you mentioned permitting for more weight, but now with six axles total I would think you could just register the truck and trailer for more weight and skip needing the permit, if Indiana does truck registration the same as Idaho. And I know out here annual permits are the cheaper way to go for over dimensional, my over length permit also covers over weight. I would think just having the weight lower and the longer king pin to axle length it would tow a lot better than the other trailer. I know the first time I pulled a trailer with more than two axles I about put myself through the windshield empty. Definitely going to have a solid setup once you have everything dialed in.

@michaelhofer9149 Жыл бұрын
With this lowboy trailer, if you experience problems getting the link pin to drop just raise the nose of the trailer a tad and it will drop right home. Keep it well oiled. With your drop axle, leave it up until you are on the asphalt and ready to boogie, that will help you getting in AND out of places. That axle puts a hell of a strain on the trailer suspension when you’re trying to maneuver in and out of tight drives. Just an old equipment hauler sharing some history. I really do LOVE THE SOUND OF A JAKE BRAKE IN THE MORNING!

I drive lowboy for a logger and I think you will like the new load bearing trailer. with the trailer weight being in front of the wheels it should ride smother more weight on the truck. I would think you could license your truck for more weight with 6 axles rather than 5 without having to buy an overweight permit. Where we don't have to worry about scales I usually run with more weight on the truck but we have more adverse conditions with steep hills and bad weather. I was supprised the J wasn't closer to 46000 like a D6H. I like running different types of equipment so enjoy your channel. My wife has done some videos of me hauling different types of equipment on her Outwest Country Living channel.

Just a tip, we have fenders on our stinger that line up with the trailer.. so from the driverseat you can judge the trailer is line up with the fender and it slides in everytime.. and instead of adjusting and wiggling stuff our driver drops the air out of the truck as he pulls away it slides off and then hits the air to build it back up so the ears dont drag in the ground. We used to have a landsoll but got rid of it when we got the 10ft wide lowboy

I like the new lowboy. I don't have one like that but when I worked out of the IUOE, I worked for a crane rental company for 14 years and we had one there almost like yours. They put an electric air dump valve on the back axle which was controlled by a toggle switch in the truck cab. When we turned in a tight road we would dump the air off the back axle which saves tires and makes the turn easier. Great video Mike! Thanks for sharing.
