Seeing this footage makes me think that Britannic’s sinking was actually a blessing in disguise. A massive Edwardian steamship, nearly identical to Titanic, lying in (relatively) shallow, calm, warm water, and unlike most large passenger shipwrecks, she is in excellent condition. We’re lucky to have her on this planet! Unlike many in these comments, I don’t find this footage scary at all. I actually find a peculiar comfort and warmth in being close to her! She is certainly a war grave, honoring those lost in her sinking. But compared to other major maritime disasters, her sinking was orderly and most of her passengers were evacuated safely.

So sad that we cannot bring her up and convert her into a museum - she will be better off remaining where she is for decades to come long after her sister the Titanic has disintegrated from all of the metal-eating bacteria.

Thanks for sharing this. It's people like you with the skill and guts to go down there that give the rest of us a chance to have "been" there as well. I think, despite the size of the ship -- which I think remains the biggest (originally intended) passenger liner on the ocean floor to this day -- that for those of us who have seen modern ships, they might be disappointed a bit by how much smaller it really is than today's liners. It's still huge, for sure. If you've ever been to the Queen Mary, you'll get an idea of the size, even though the Queen Mary is even bigger -- but it is not that much bigger. I do agree, however, given the intense fascination with the Olympic liners, it would have been great if this giant ship could have been raised, docked, and repaired, then preserved for all to see. Titanic is slowly wasting into a pile of rust some 12,000 feet below the surface and broken into two pieces. Precious few have ever seen it or ever will, again, except in videos. Britannic offers the opportunity to preserve this incredible story and history. Oh, well -- I guess it was never meant to be.

I see a lot of people putting around the idea of raising it, but unfortunately that’s not very possible. First, the bow would have to be completely reconstructed as it would fall apart from its damage. Secondly, the amount of wear and damage to the ship after being underwater for so long would make it extremely difficult to raise out of fear of destroying the wreck, especially with the side resting on the ground likely being very distorted and damaged after all this time. Third, it would be extremely expensive and I doubt many people would put their money towards this. And finally it is the death site of 30 people which would spark controversy over the raising from people who think it should be left alone. It would be extremely cool to see it floated but I doubt it will ever happen

You decompress at different depths, depending on how far down you dive. Not "sitting for hours" in one spot. More like sitting 15 minutes for every 150'.

The Davit Arms and guide wires for the funnels are a potential hazard though.

The creepy thing is they are “dead ships” and they too decompose and return to the earth and get absorbed by the sea. So I kind of get “the willies “ anyone I am near a wreck or an abandoned boat.

Can You dive on this shipwreck with just an advanced diver license or do you need some other license ?

If there would be a billionaire willing to raise the Britannic and restore her into a museum ship, it would maybe take a decade to do so. But seeing her in the White Star Line delivery would be freaking awesome but making a replica of her in the way of how cruise ships are made is far more better to have as a museum.

I'd love to do this. But my Submechanophobia says otherwise. Just seeing her just appear out of the void would terrify me. Being next to this massive ship underwater is just so cool but terrifying.

Question, was brittanic , Titanic's exact copy. Next how deep is she, I assume quite shallow, given divers were in suits, were they using Tri mix gas,

Amazing footage. One can't help but ask himself: Can they raise it, and preserve it?
