Amazing clean up! It turned out quite good! (if we do not look to the rusty spots :P) Good luck on the mechanical part!

I'm loving the Saab content Memphis, I really hope you can resurrect it in a similar way you did with your e28......I'm actually jealous of your collection now....mk1 golf, BMW e28 Volvo 245 & now saab 900 16v( you van keep your other cars as they are to "new: for.my taste) 👍👍👍

It’s a shame that Saab are notorious for rusting in the rear wheel arches. Saab is very close to my heart as it was the first car I had. And I went to the Saab museum in Sweden to really get an understanding. I can’t wait for this project. And I really really like your videos ❤️ Keep it up

This was a great purchase just because you got to practice paint correction by “polishing a turd”, it may just be “lipstick on a pig”, but it’s only a pig because of the rust. I was wrong, this is a cool project, that’s because you are making it a cool project. Once again you don’t disappoint.

Fantastic job, Memphis. The looks cared for, and that is a really big start. I don't know what paint Saab and Volvo were using in the late 80s early 90s, but it is incredible. Some basic maintenance and it comes up as good as new. My 240DL Estate is the same as the Saab. A good clean and wax and it shines up beautifully. I can't wait to see what you will do with the Saab. I'm just very glad you are saving it.

Just something to point out for anyone cleaning an a old car that has been abandoned for a while. Remember where there are webs there are spiders and the bigger the web the bigger the spider. When cleaning always keep your eyes peeled for spiders. Its no joke I was recently working on an old car and got bit multiple times and it hurts real bad!

Definitely not a waste of time if you learned something, and moreso if it helps you to feel better and more motivated about the car. By polishing it you can see the true state of the panels and maybe figure out which ones will need to be re-painted in the future, and which ones can be left alone.

WOW... This brings me back.... I was a SAAB mechanic for many years...bought and sold many of these...sadly ones like that were stripped of parts (usable) and sent to crusher...My favorite was an '86 SPG... sold it with over 300K miles....the biggest area to inspect is the lower A arm mounts. That area rusted out terribly (mostly on the passengers side).... Good luck with that!! PS....Pinion bearings were also a common issue..

Looks good! I'm not sure what your plans/budget/goal is, but those 900i and 900s are really cheap where I am and the grey is a super popular colour (along with black) and you could easily find a better shell. Build 1 car from 2. It would be cheaper and easier than repairing the rust. Might not make as many interesting, ad-revenue-generating videos though. But that interior is mint (aside from the dash) and hard to find. It would be great if you could find a rust free (turbo) shell to put it in. Lol. Turbo. Do it.

Dag Memphis ! The fabric on the doors can be 'stretched' again, not sure it is glued. For the radio, the must is an old Blaupunkt 'Stockholm' of course but yours is fine. For the wheels, I'd discard these cheap steel ones for alloy ones (the elegant, ones, the Turbo ones are too sporty in my view). The color shines nicely, Platana Grey ? Love this thread, polishing was utterly useless but so enjoyable !

@@Azureecosse Indeed, most 'factory' head units were Clarion (branded 'Clarion made for Saab'). I also saw Philips units in some publicity material. However, mine (sold new in Belgium) came with a low-end Blaupunkt (Cambridge or Verona) that a replace with a early nineties Stockholm (better unit, the 'Stockholm' is obviously an added bonus).
