Eva, my husband and I were traveling in Montenegro and Albania at the same time as you. We absolutely love these countries! My husband started looking for your truck as we were driving around the countryside ;) At one point in Montenegro we were on a really hairy road, and I said to my husband, Eva drives on roads like this all the time. It calmed him down a little bit, until a huge, and I mean huge, construction vehicle approached us on the one lane steep mountain cliff road. The truck won the standoff. We had to back up to the previous widest part so he could pass. I’m glad you’re ok after the angry cow incident. Take care.

I don't think anyone is or can be perfectly safe when travelling alone , especially women unfortunately . Statistically it's highly unlikely you'll meet bad people but you never know especially if you don't know anything about the kind of area you're in . I would definitely carry pepper spray & or a taser & never ever go anywhere alone with someone you don't really know very well , even other women as they can bait & lure the unwary into trouble . I think have fun but always stay alert & wary & on gaurd when strangers approach you , make it obvious too , if they mean you harm they may move on to find an easier less wary target .
@mysillylittlelife49333 жыл бұрын
Well, I have been assaulted before in broad daylight in the middle of a crowd at the train station in my German home city, so I guess I'm a bit more concerned about dangerous people in general. Also one time two guys ran after me to my car, I was just lucky I got in fast enough and could lock the doors. This was also in the middle of a city with people around. Maybe I should just avoid cities 😂 but it would be interesting anyway if more female creators shared their thoughts and maybe tips on safety, especially in remote places or generally risky countries. A guide is one thing, yes.

After working at a dairy farm when I was young I realized cows in general are not to be trusted. That being said, while growing up on a small farm we had a cow that loved to be petted and she would allow children to get on her back and ride about. A good thing to keep handy is an umbrella. Point it at the offending animal and pop it open. Usually works. Get well soon!

I live on a farm, we never bring the dog to the pasture for this reason, as for the low range box engagement, engage 1st on the main box first with the transfer box in neutral, dip the clutch and try to engage low while feathering the clutch, it'll go into gear. The first chance you get, spray silicon lubricant or brunox on the gear linkages of the transfer box from under neath, you'll see them move with someone wiggling the stick, they stick from lack of use. Keep them lubed and it'll save time and hardship and also ensure they don't break. I've been driving defenders 20 years and love the td5s, there's always little tricks and quirks with them, stay safe
@timphoto83ec3 жыл бұрын
And get your hand under there so you understand how that linkage works. If that little "U" shaped link is too loose you can end up staying locked when you think its not. Not good for CV's if that happens. Easy to push the lever across from underneath just to make sure. Oh dont go to India if you dont like cows.

actually it's mostly the humans who are unpredictable, as they breed animals into existence, treat them well (or at least decently) for a while, then kill them, take their children, and so on. It's a miracle more animals don't get pissed off by this, but that's domestication for ya.

I had an incident in Colorado while traveling, alone. Although I camped most of the time in my Jeep, I was camping in my tent in an RV park in a beautiful spot along the river. I wasn't feeling well and laid down, fell asleep without animal proofing my camp (which is very important in Colorado) and was awoken by a bear trying to get into my ice chest. It was right outside my tent door. I screamed bloody murder, blew my whistle and banged anything I could find. Finally after an hour of doing this the bear left and someone came to my rescue. The scariest thing was that I also had some snacks in my tent and the bear could have clawed its way in, but thank God that didn't happen. I packed up and left in the middle of the night I was so freaked out. Lesson learned. Be safe! Enjoy your journey. It looks fantastic!

I really admmire how you make do with the gear that you have. This is far better than overlanding channels that are too focused on buying a gear for everything and having each of those be the central point rather than showing off true skills and embarking on a fun adventure -- with all of its ups and downs. Keep it real, Eva. No doubt you're a true gem in this niche. Cheers!

When people said “stay safe” they definitely didn’t expect to mean safe from cows 😂 glad you’re okay and humour aside, I can’t imagine how scary that would’ve been

Eva, thank you for your videos. I’m retired, financially independent and travel the country in my van with my German Shepherd. While I love the adventure, I still have a home and a safety net. I love your energy and adventurism. Keep the great vids coming,,,and PLEASE,,,as someone else posted,,,,filter your water. Nothing worse than a bout of dysentery.

After washing clothes put them in a net bag with a tie line and swing them in a circle, works pretty good for water removal and a quicker dry time. Also buy a life straw for clean drinking water and have some water purifier tablets on hand. And as you have experienced a first aid kit comes in handy.

You’re now an official road warrior, only add a cow. Great to see a feisty young woman having adventures and seizing the day. Stay fearless, but always have situational awareness and keep an eye out for what could go wrong.

I was once threatened and harassed by a squad of menacing hit-cows along a quiet road in rural Scotland. Luckily there was a sturdy fence between them and me. I took a snapshot, which I still have over 30 years later, of all ten or so of them glaring at me.

The crazy thing is that one cow or a group of cows could jump onto the road at any moment if they go crazy, the fence or a bush can't stop them. And they get so abused by humans that would just fair that each kill humans when they can.

I once drank from a mountain spring while on a wild boar hunt during my first tour of duty in Turkey 1991-92. The water was so cold, and so good. We had been told to NEVER drink water that wasn't bottled, but we felt that since we were on a mountain, and there was no sign of folks living in the immediate vicinity, it would be safe to drink, it was.

Hi Eva, I love your videos and this one is beautiful. I saw you struggled filling up your water container, I wanted to suggest that you can modify a-bracket on your stairs to connect your flex pipe . Glad that you survived the cow attack, don’t worry about your stitches on your forehead they are signs of Bravery. Love your truck, great set up. Keep up the good work and be safe.

Eva hope you can answer some burning questions like do you use detergent to wash your pots/pans and clothes? What about your bathroom needs? How do you charge your phone/laptop? Do you stop to sleep at motels or dine in restaurants at all? Do you feel lonely? I feel lonely for you, watching you recording yourself alone.

I have a Discovery 1 and Discovery 2, it’s best to shift gears with the vehicle moving really slow. I normally do it between 1-3 MPH with the transmission in “N” (neutral). Otherwise both of my land rovers do not shift to low range.
