First Week with my New Baby Budgie
- I've got another budgie. it is a young male about 40 days old. his name is Benji. I got him for the reason because he may stop the war between Denny and Jenny. you can see how I introduced him to his new flock. I hope I did it correctly. at the end of the video, you can see the decision that I made for Jenny. It was very difficult to leave her... so I couldn't do it. Jenny is still in the flock

I'm glad that Jenny is still part of the flock! :) I'll talk from what I see in the video, but Benji is adapting surprisingly well and Denny too, which is awesome! 1:40 What you did here is great too, that's exactly what you should do to introduce birds to each other. I'd say both Jenny and Denny seem to appreciate Benji (from afar at least lol). Otherwise, they wouldn't even get near him. However, I'd hold the cohabitation at least until you are sure the birds are used to each other on neutral grounds: Benji, but also Denny and Jenny need to know they have a safe space, away from strangers (AKA new birds), where they can retreat if they want to. New bird introductions can be stressful for the new bird, but also those who are already there. My guess is, while Denny seems to be a social bird and Benji is getting along nicely, Jenny might need more time to familiarize herself with Benji and, even though Benji seems to love her, she might not be ready to interact with him, let alone share her turf with him. It's very important to give them social time, where they can hang out on neutral grounds (like playgrounds, flying spots, baths, etc.) and to respect their boundaries. Just like no one would let a stranger into their home, birds are not happy about sharing their territory with foreign birds or having forced interactions. Maybe if you let Benji and Jenny interact on a table under supervision for, say, 5-10 minutes at a time until they're both comfortable with each other, give them each their time to stretch their wings alone, things might go more smoothly. While they may never be bests of friends, it's going to increase the likelihood of them being able to at least tolerate each other. Also, be aware that it's a process that may take weeks and, sometimes, months in some cases. It's also important to share your love and attention equally between all 3 budgies, so that the "older" birds don't feel like they're being replaced or like they're competing for your attention (which is what they do in the wild among siblings). I know it's a hard process, but it's totally worth it. Good luck! :)

The same thing happened with me my male budgie flew away bymistake he went for a walk and got lost i was soo sad😓😣 dont know if he is alive now we got a male baby for my female but she thought he was a trator and she never let him sit on the stick 😶 but after some time they became friends

I'm commenting on this video because the comments are off for the video about Benji's death. My cousin's hamster died yesterday , my budgie was really sick two weeks ago , the queen's husband died two days ago , a relative last week died , it's all has just been a mess . There are no words to describe this type of pain , the pain of a person who lost a well beloved pet .You and Benji were so lucky to have found eachother, he will be greatly missed . Losing such important part of the family is never easy . The philosopher Aristotle once said - Everything happens for a reason- , Benji died to fly high to heaven to meet Denny so he wouldn't be lonely . It was a very hard choice for Benji to make , but again philosopher Aristotle said that everything happens for a reason. I feel so miserable 😞 and I truly am sorry for your loss , we can never keep them long enough Benji may not be next to us , but he will always be in our hearts ❤️ R.I.P Benji 14.10.2019 - 6.4.2021 ❤️😫🤲🏼🙏🏼💐🕊️🦜

Was Benji hand raised because I have had mine for three weeks and still can't scratch his head. Though sometimes I can touch is belly and get him to step up for two seconds. How does he have a blue cere at just 40 some days old? Mine is 3 months and it still has not changed.

It's still early in the introductions department, and the new guy is still practically in infancy while the others are adults. At this stage it might be better to limit the direct interactions with Jenny to short, supervised periods or not have direct interactions at all until later. Benji looks very subdued: I will be curious to see whether this is temporary during his adaptation, or whether it is simply his temperament.

Denny the Budgie Benji is a grey green normal, not a spangle or an olive. Olives are slightly darker than grey greens and are much rarer, he is also a normal, not a spangle as spangles have reverse markings
