G'day Shauna, from NZ, seems like to me that you really enjoyed yourself on that wild camp. You mentioned sore shoulders, what I recommend to all my students, when I'm guiding, is to purchase the woolen seat belt covers (they Velcro over the shoulder of the seat belt for comfort), these give extra padding and can ease the soreness. Over here, we say that it takes two weeks to get your lungs and legs (if done very day). The body always rebels against the load at first, but then accepts it. It's called conditioning. Always try and keep the heavy stuff at the top of your pack, like the tent, strapping on at the bottom will fatigue you and pull you backwards and interfere with your gait. I could go on, but I'm sure, there are plenty of people to give you advice over there. I'm still out there in the hills after 50 years as a guide and bushcraft instructor and I don't intend to give up yet!! It's great for fitness and general health. Anyway, that's my two cents worth. ATB Cheers from the mountains of NZ ☺☺
