Fantastic!! People who diminish this accomplishment don't understand just how difficult this race is. The Barkley Marathons is among the top 5 hardest running races in the world.

I can't think of a harder one- after all, this is a race that, for evem the most elite runners in the world, the goal is to go as far as possible, and, maybe, to finish the 'race'... Though solo circumnavigation sail races are pretty nuts. This race reminds me of the age of exploration and Scott and Anmussen's race to the south pole, or Franklin's doomed search for the northwest passage... the bleeding edge of possibility, and, before their success, impossibility. Those are the only things I can compare to (and, realistically, surpass) the Barkley.

Must be a lot of pressure to be both the first woman ever and to finish the Barkley Marathon, good for her.

She became the SLOWEST (haha! That just makes it cooler!) finisher in the history of the race... A race that fewer that 22 people have EVER even FINISHED in the race's 35-ish (Im not sure exactly) year history. This was an amazing, monumental, inspirational, wonderful achievement that I could never even consider thinking about doing (though I think I'm pretty tough for a guy my age), maybe, possibly, dreaming about doing one loop- and she did five! This is, for a man or a woman, just a straight-up BONKERS accomplishment! and Jared Cambell, too, got his fourth finish: I don't see that getting passed. When I saw that she finished I literally yelled out loud a 'F***-Yeah!!' and had to explain to my roommates just why I was so stoked! I have a necessary that runs cross-country at her school- she will be also amazed, and hopefully inspired! Congratulations J.P! (Also, next year's probably gonna be pretty harsh, as the point is kinda to keep it on the bleeding-edge of possibility.)

I don't know how close she came the previous year but it would have been tough to get to the finish line and miss the cutoff by a small margin. Kudos for her to try again and get it done.
@rjensen25867 ай бұрын
I think she was a couple hours off from the cutoff, but it seemed like she still had the legs to go out there again if she had been allowed to.

The results are questionable because they were not using GPS. They use Shortcuts. It was closer to 87 miles.

Actually it is more likely over 100 miles, not less than. Look up all the requirements of finishing this race.

A woman finished?? Oh, must have cheated... 🫣 Dude, seriously, stop spreading hate. Women compete on level ground with men in 100+ mile ultras. This is no ordinary ultra, and only a handful of women are allowed in every year. She earned this, and there will be more to come.
@Roofers-Nail-Hardest7 ай бұрын
Congratulations but if there is only one woman ever to finish, and she did it w a minute to spare, doesn’t this just prove that professional women athletes are inferior to professional male athletes?
@Zzyzzyx7 ай бұрын
Um, everyone knows that men are stronger than women. Pro or not.
@Roofers-Nail-Hardest7 ай бұрын
@@Zzyzzyx then why do they let men in wigs compete against women?
@hertor88037 ай бұрын
Erm...yeah...we all know that. Why are you still looking for proof? It also proves that this particular woman athlete is better than 99% of the professional male athletes that have attempted this race. Go figure.

but but but "if a man can do it a woman can do it better" 🤪
@MsColl907 ай бұрын
It suggests they are different from men. Only men think they are anatomically superior. When you you can gestate a baby inside your body for 9 months while carrying on normal life and then give birth, you can talk about women being inferior. Kneel before your momma and thank her. You’re not the hero.
