Awesome video!!! I like visiting the older cemeteries for that is where the real history is. Also like visiting those out-of-the-way and overgrown/forgotten cemeteries as well because you never know who/what you may discover.

From the time I was a little I loved old cemeteries. When we would drive by one I would beg my parents to stop. Ill always will remember the time we went to our old family cemetery in MO. We have relatives buried there that were born in the 1700's. Thank you for sharing this. Yes to more cemeteries.

Thanks for sharing. I enjoy Sidestep Adventures, who shared historical Graves that have been forgotten. Some of the historians are descendants. How the family stories are passed down from generation to generation. The Usters Scots were amazing people. Came from Northern Ireland. Presbyterians. Many were indenture servants. 😊

If you get a chance, Townsend and Son, who does living history, shared a video about Maggie Delaney. The woman who portrays the indented servant read historical court cases. She is a creative writer from West Virginia. She wrote and stars in the one hour play, taking 3 court cases. So, many came to the colonies because of the English Civil War. Anglican Church vs. Presbyterians. Jim Dowson of KTI is a Scot-Irish who lives in Northern Ireland and shares so much about our ancestors. A lot of work goes into this type of research.

Nice video, I'm familiar with the area but didn't know the history. Another good cemetery for Revolutionary War soldiers (and still actively burying) is the Old Greenwich Church in Greenwich Twp (just outside P'burg, near Stewartsville - which also has several old places worth visiting).

@@daffydaggers3156 , You are correct. The "walking purchase" is noted on the headstone. What is very interesting is the man who made the deal, but cheated the Indians, was one of the Scots-Irish. His name was, I believe, Logan. If you are ever in the town of Lurgan, County Armagh on the island of Ireland that is where he came from. If you want to know how the Indians were cheated, in this case, you may be able to look it up. If not I can explain how it was done.

One of my ancestors killed 8 Native Americans with his bare hands. He ended up being arrested and found guilty of murder and got the death penalty. It was in 1928! LOL.

I doubt it was your "ancestor" in 1928. You probably are talking about your great-grandfather being a murderer 😒 it was very common for Native people to be murdered by white people over money or land. The film Killers of the Flower Moon directed by Martin Scorsese is going to be released soon. That was when the Osage Tribe were forced from their land and moved to Oklahoma and bought land from the financial compensation from the govt. The land happened to have oil under it. So many white people were marrying and/or murdering Osage people for the headrights to the oil money that it led to the formation of the FBI.

Very probable. This cemetery is very old and was restored. They did a fantastic job but I’m sure some history and people are still unaccounted for. I am so grateful that it was found and that the kindness of a group of people helped to keep history alive. Some people did this with their own money.
