First Woman Tactical Operator in NYSDEC History

NYSDEC Environmental Conservation Police Officer (ECO) Justanna Bohling graduated from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services’ SWAT Operator Course on Friday, making her the first woman to serve as a tactical operator in DEC history.

Yes but it's developed that way. During SERT training instructors will load your mags with 2 to 6 rounds. It's done so that Muscle memory will tell you automatically go to your secondary weapon. Which she did. Drop your mag transition to your secondary Until the threat has stopped or backup has your cover.

Great work, but one has to wonder why DEC would ever need a SWAT team. Rowdy campers or hungry bears? If DEC officers get in trouble they should be calling NYSP for backup.

@@kenyattadanclar3498 They're should not be a DEC SWAT period. If you've ever met a ranger you would know that they are mostly used for rescue missions. Not a SWAT team. Especially in NYS. There is a whole state police force called the "New York State Police" stationed everywhere in the state aimed to deal with crime. And they are pretty effective...

Really, I get ECOs are police officers but SWAT teams for Environmental Conservation enforcement? This is why much of the general public dislikes police. Its totally unnecessary, very police state optics, and show me the money costs and benefit as I will bet hands down the cost of training and weaponry goes way beyond the scope of their average daily duties. If they come across major marijuana operations then call the DEA and Troopers, If they stumble on major environmental crimes such as business pollution then get help from local police and state attorney general's enforcement division. This is ridiculous for mostly low level hunting and fishing violations and individual littering, total unnecessary overreach.

What a total embarrassment to the EnCon Police! She is not even Academy Recruit tactically proficient. I have worked alongside the EnCon Officer and they deserve better than this!
