Ashwini Bhide Deshpande: Raag Bhairavi

First Edition Arts organised and curated their second annual Diwali Concert Series on 1st November 2013. The event was sponsored by Union Bank of India. This year's headlining artiste was Ashwini Bhide Deshpande.
Here she performs Raag Bhairavi and a tarana. The bandish "Kahe Rokat Shyam" was composed by Chaitanya Kunte.
She was accompanied by Pt. Vishwanath Shirodkar on Tabla and Seema Shirodkar on Harmonium. Dhanashree Ghaisas and Shamika Bhide accompanied on Tanpuras.
The concert was held at Ravindra Natya Mandir, Prabhadevi, Mumbai.

a few lines I may have missed this is a romantic thumri song based on the teasing of Radha by krishna Set on the banks of the river yamuna centuries ago. Relevant even today essence; why do you stop me O dark coloured (shyaam)/Lord krishna All your playmates (gwaal baal)are out playing. everyday you tease and play mischief by trying to knock off my 'gagariya'( container of water)
