India's GDP grew at an impressive 8.2%, exceeding projections by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and India's central bank, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Because the Population growth was high too until a decade ago, so the GDP/capita wasn't increasing at a pace, now that population growth has slowed down and GDP growth has picked up, you will see GDP/Capita grow at faster and faster rate over the next 2 decades. But, since it's a 1.4 B people and still growing, the GDP/capita will not reach the western nation level in the foreseeable future. However, considering the ultra low cost of living in India, the GDP-PPP/Capita is not that bad and it will be equivalent to western nation in next two decades, which is what matters in the real life.
