Yes Sweden was Neutral for 200 years But when it joined a Military Alliance (NATO) in 2023 it gave up its Neutrality.

As a Swede I must say that you captured this well. There is only one thing I would like to add a little nuance too: Sweden have a tradition of "total defense" and a transparency that might look weird from the outside. These booklets "in case of crisis or war" are an example of this (which can be downloaded in english for everyone, and are actually useful, even though they are blunt, direct, honest). Same thing with Swedens military defense (Försvarsmakten) which makes information videos about potential threats or potential future conflicts (thank the Swedish tax-payers).....this is meant to prepare Swedes for the mentality that is required for the concept of total-defense to work properly. But it's also meant to work preemptive: the last thing Sweden want is war: it just happen to be at a geograhic spot where it would be dragged into a conflict because of imperialistic superpowers.

I agree with you; however we are all squares in the geostrategic chess board. Seeing that USA & UK are hell bent on using NATO to encircle & dismember Russia why did Sweden choose to join NATO? IT is not Ukraine versus Russia but NATO fighting Russia & Sweden did not need to take sides. Russia is not going to accept missiles in Ukraine targetting Moscow & other Russian regions.

No... When Sweden gave up a large piece of territory (what is today St. Petersbrgh) to "Moscovity Tsarstvo" in 1722. Then Peter the Great changed a name into the Russian Empire. Before that there were three Russias as shown in the map of Middle Ages: Russia, Red Russia and White Russia. They look like more regions around Poland, Ukraine and Belorus. Not sure why Russia was an important name for Peter.

Not completely, from what I can tell. Russia and China are imperialistic, and I think Europe is slowly realizing it has to asume it's on it's own. For Sweden, with a total population of 11 mil people, they are however quite dependent on countries like UK, France and Germany. But the Nordics, including the Baltics and Poland, have started closer collaberarions recently, taking own initiatives. I would say that the problem is the opposite: everyone is doing their thing and noone is really leading. I think Sweden was hoping that Poland could eventually take that role.

Such an important decision without a referendum, what kind of democracy are we talking about, I had great respect for the Swedish system, the last bastion of democracy, unfortunately, it also fell under the pressure of American imperialism... I was not surprised when the other countries were admitted without a referendum because there was no democracy and rule of law there, unlike Sweden and Finland, but now we see that such a thing does not exist. there are lobby groups, warmongers (profiteers) who are able to set the whole world on fire because of the stock market and money

Support for Nato in Finland was at around 20% before this last invasion Russia did, but when they did it using the same lies they have been using since 1939, Finns knew it is happening again. Basically over a night the support for Nato jumped to over 80%. Nato is the only protection for small nations against Russia. Last time Russia stole 11% of land and the second biggest city from Finland. Finland and Sweden would love to be neutral. Sadly living next to Russia makes it too dangerous.

" But I wouldn't Indians, Chinese, North Koreans, Iranians or any of the sand people expect to understand this. All of you have chosen your side in this new / or rivived Cold War. And by that means, I'm afraid we will have to throw away our moral highground someday, because when it comes to pure numbers, the West can't compete with Asia, and we will have to deliver a strategic first strike. Just like you would celebrate if something bad like this would happen to Great Britain, don't expect any of us to shed a tear when you are gone. Me for example , I have read way too many hateful comments here and know already how you Indians think. You are not neutral either.

After 16 years of living in Sweden, I must admit, Swedes always prepared very well with this type of situations. All there homes with necessary food items, depends on the homes but at least I saw more than 10 families, they had at least 30 days of food in the shelves or in the fridges. I have asked some families, and they told me , that their tradition, that they always have some food items in storage if something goes wrong. I don't think their intention was war at that time, may be weather conditions.

@iftvreports when Soviet union fell, the western countries and Nato did not attack Russia. Instead they lowered their weapons and opened the borders, hoping that Russia would become one of the European countries and live in peace. All the other European countries managed to do it after ww2. Old enemies working together. But for some reason Russia does not want it. It does not want to be one of the European countries. It is not enough. Russia wants to be an empire that is feared. Nato was not threat in early 90's so why it would be now? Only threat is to Russian imperialistic dreams because invading Nato country is so much more difficult. Russia keeps using same propaganda and lies it used in 1939 when it invaded it's neighbors together with the Germans and started the ww2... and still some people believe these lies..

THE CONTROL OF THE MASSES BY FEAR MONGERING AND EVEN THE USE OF ARSON TO PROVE THEIR POINT. The Australian Labor Party has been promising to build a ‘Fast Rail’ going North - there is no mention of a reliable, ‘Electrified Rail’ to the Southern Highlands. What has Stephen Jones achieved for the Southern Highlands ever since he has been our Federal Representative? We have the worst transport system in Australia with the worst roads. The train takes two and a half hours to travel one hundred and twenty five kilometres . The Australian Labor Party, the GREENS, the TEALS, the moral deviates have only one agenda. They will promise anything that they think that you and `I will go for and deliver nothing. Their agenda is the will of the New World Order Dictatorship. Our Albanian Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese has started his re-election campaign and it is full of false promises. Can we really afford to have Australian Labor Party, the TEALS, the GREENS and the moral deviates (people that are totally deviated from morality) to govern our once great Nation of Australia? Anthony Albanese won a minority government by lying and having the support of all the other deceivers. Australia must have a solid moral fibre if it going to survive then next five years. Does NATO truly want war with Russia? To understand this complex question, we must first revisit the events that shaped the geopolitical landscape. When the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, Russia was brought to its knees. Its people faced poverty, queuing for bread, while Ukraine, newly independent, gave up thousands of nuclear warheads in exchange for guarantees of its sovereignty. These guarantees were not offered by NATO but by Russia, the United States, and the United Kingdom under the Budapest Memorandum. The sovereignty of Ukraine and its borders were agreed upon by the USSR, not NATO. In the years following the Soviet collapse, it was the West-primarily the United States and European nations-that helped pull Russia out of economic despair. Billions of dollars in aid flowed into Russia, facilitating its integration into the modern world. Western nations invested heavily in Russia’s economic infrastructure, supporting its rise from the ashes of the Cold War. This cooperation was not without precedent. During World War II, the United States played a pivotal role in aiding the Soviet Union against Nazi Germany, providing supplies and support at great cost, including the loss of American ships to German submarines. Yet, despite these efforts to bridge divides, tensions escalated in the years leading up to the war in Ukraine. Prior to February 22, 2022, Western leaders made unprecedented diplomatic efforts to persuade President Putin to avoid conflict. In fact, there was a historic queue of presidents, prime ministers, and foreign ministers visiting Moscow to urge de-escalation and seek peace. These efforts underscored the West’s commitment to avoiding war and finding a diplomatic resolution to the crisis. Meanwhile, significant uprisings in Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine reflected widespread dissatisfaction with corrupt, pro-Kremlin regimes. These grassroots movements highlighted a desire for self-determination and transparency-values at odds with authoritarian governance. So, what led to this war? Was it NATO’s actions, or was it a broader response to Putin’s vision of reclaiming a lost empire? NATO’s expansion is often cited as a provocation, but it was driven by the sovereign decisions of Eastern European nations seeking security and alignment with democratic values after decades under Soviet control. Ultimately, the world-across religious, cultural, and political divides-seeks a more transparent and accountable global order. The evolution of humanity demands a world where power is not concentrated in the hands of a few but shared through democratic principles. This is not merely a Western ideal; it is a universal aspiration. The question, then, is not whether NATO wants war but whether we, as a global society, are willing to support systems that prioritize sovereignty, justice, and peace over domination and conflict.....

""The West - primarily the United States and European countries - helped pull Russia out of economic despair. Billions of dollars of aid flowed into Russia"" in Russia they still remember this "help" with hatred. when a Western bandit hugs you with one hand and rummages through your pockets with the other. ""supporting its revival from the ashes of the Cold War"" which the West itself orchestrated. "The United States played a key role in helping the Soviet Union fight Nazi Germany." The United States watched for a long time who would win and traded with everyone. The USA promised to open a second front in 1942, but it opened only in June 1944! in order to have time to join the winner and begin to divide Europe. This Lend-Lease assistance was a huge burden for the USSR, and then for Russia, which only recently was able to fully pay off the US, alone, for all the republics of the USSR. The United States took gold from Russia not only for bullets, but also for every button. While Mongolia really selflessly helped the USSR in the fight against Nazi Germany.

“Before February 22, 2022, Western leaders made unprecedented diplomatic efforts to persuade President Putin to avoid conflict” - bullshit. The West deliberately fueled the conflict. Trump said he would release all recordings of Russia's negotiations with Biden. "" visited Moscow to call for de-escalation and a search for peace. These efforts underscored the West's desire to avoid war." At that same time, Kyiv was bombing Donbass with complete impunity from the West. killed, killed and killed people in the east of Ukraine with the support of the West. "These grassroots movements have emphasized a desire for self-determination and transparency-values at odds with authoritarian rule." hahaha))) and recently the unrest in Georgia))) all this shows that the West is paying for these unrest on the border with Russia. “The question is not whether NATO wants war, but whether we, as a global society, are prepared to support these systems.” the only thing you can support is your pants.
