There was no democracy in Bangladesh in the last 15 years. Hasina manipulated the Election Commission and arranged fake elections since 2013. Anyone who said against it was arrested. The opposition went to street to protest and they were met with live bullets just like students. All the news channels who talked against it were shut down. All these started in her second term after 2009. Since then billions of dollars have been laundered from the country. Her ministers just like Vijay Maliya took thousands of crores from banks and established companies in Singapore and other countries. Banks are now suffering with a lack of liquidity. We had to take a bailout from the IMF. If i keep writing about what she and her govt. has done to cripple this nation it will be quite long. I am really surprised how ill informed you are about your neighbour. By the way taka's value was 80-85 per dollar before Hasina came, now it is 120 per dollar.

I will say this about Sheikh Hasina, the fact that Bangladesh despite being a predominantly Muslim country does or did say something about the country. The huge increase in GDP is also a big accomplishment. Of course watching scenes of the statue of Bangladesh's first Prime Minister get defaced makes me wonder whether the country may now head in the wrong direction and go back to being the poorest country in West Asia and start to resemble Pakistan in terms of it's political structure and human rights record. Let's hope that's NOT the direction Bangladesh takes.
