LIVE: Israel Invades Rafah | Russia Celebrates Victory Day | Vantage this Week with Palki Sharma
On this edition of the show, Indians living abroad have set a major record by sending $111 billion back to the country as remittances. An assessment by the World Bank reveals that remittances to India will continue to rise in 2024, too. Meanwhile, Israeli tanks and fighter jets bombed eastern Rafah as last-minute ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas broke down in Cairo. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared to dismiss US President Joe Biden's threat, saying Israel would "fight with fingernails" if necessary. On the other hand, the US Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall recently took a ride in the world's first AI-controlled F-16 fighter jet. America is reportedly the first country to possess this new-age technology, with its rivals expected to follow suit.
Vladimir Putin has taken oath as the President of Russia for a fifth time in an elaborate ceremony at the Grand Kremlin Palace. In China, President Xi Jinping received a warm welcome in Serbia. Serbia and China have signed 29 deals, and decided to implement a free trade pact - which could complicate Europe's efforts to "de-risk" from Chinese supply chains.
Last weekend, in a tense encounter over the Yellow Sea, a Chinese fighter jet executed a provocative action by deploying flares close to an Australian naval helicopter, according to Canberra. Meanwhile, the tourism minister of the Maldives has reached out to Indians amid a steep fall in Indian tourist arrivals. Palki Sharma tells you more.

It would’ve been cheaper for the U.S. and saved U.S. ally position with the U.S. of the U.S. just sent forces to Ukraine and defended the country themselves. All that money sent for them to lose the war was a waste so Russia was able to take a country with no one stopping them. U.S. could’ve sent forces instead of a few weapons valued at more than the US reparations for slavery bill that would’ve stimulated the middle class for all ethnicities
