Oh my gawd. The "Thing" (esp the prequel from 2011) is literally the spaghetti monster. I have to watch that again to make sure I'm not nuts...but that would be hilarious that it was based on the Flying Spaghetti Monster. It recently dawned on me that the monster aliens from Quiet Place or whatever was based on a reaction to an alarm clock after a wild night out. I mean, they really DO behave this way, the way they react to sound...I've bashed the crap out of an alarm clock a time or two in my youth.

One commenter observed that to reassure the possibly panicked people whom the robot is rescuing, it might be a good idea if the robot's face looks a bit more human. Can we assume that in the country of Donatello, Michelangelo, Bernini, and Canova, they can find someone to consult on this aspect of the project? Of course in a world of fake images generated by AI, a face that is too human might be unsettling to some. Maybe the robot should just look like Snoopy or Bullwinkle.
