For more on this, from a Cowboys fan pov, there's a good amount of mystique about the number 88, for the team, for Ceedee, he's a young player, clearly ascending and carrying the torch for that figure in regards to having the guy the fanbase can gravitate to. It's been Dak and Zeke for a long time. Ware and Dez, the previous #88 that the fans still love to this day, and now you have two guys in Micah and Ceedee that are going to become the fan favorites for the team for years to come now. Probably a smart off-the-field investment, but leaving dak in limbo doesn't bode well for on-the-field stability and results for the next several years.
