I personally think that covers are meant for bands to really express themselves and change up certain aspects of the Original song and add their own flavor to them. I think First to Eleven did an amazing job with the cover! Yes, the vocals sound a lot more poppy, but that's just their unique version to it. I saw the Red jumpsuit cover and now this one...tbh it's pretty hard to compete with those classics and MCR was an emo band on its upbringing. Helena and Face Down were released during that phase in time, hella emotions and so much meaning in the lyrics. Maybe FtE's cover is supposed to highlight those awesome instrumentals, but instead trying add a poppier sound - which is where I see a lot of newer music going. As much as I grew up listening to MCR, RJA, etc, I won't downplay this version just cuz it's different. Huge respect!

Helpful criticism, while you are all very talented, something that is lacking is emotion. One of the most important aspects of music is how it makes the listener and viewer feel-the experience. Something that Gerard is fabulous with. We should be able to connect. While the singer has a lovely voice, she seems so disconnected in every video I have watched. Her voice lacks any pathos and it doesn't add to the music. It looks like she is concentrating on how to sound nice, but not bring life into anything. Kinda gives everything a monotonous feel.

I really liked this, made me feel nostalgic! A very cool homage to a song i hold close to my heart. Both your voice and the instruments are so gorgeous and in sync. I know the comments may seem a lil harsh, but here's my humble opinion: You got everything to make a GREAT Helena cover. Really! As a matter of fact this is not even bad. But if you're truly up to making a GREAT Helena cover I would rec doing a much more raw version of this very same thing. Cause the instrumentation is great. Your voice is amazing. EVERYTHING is great and ready to go. But you need to understand that at the core of this song there is intense heartbreak and grief. It's almost like the song goes through the 5 stages of grief all in 4 minutes. Really focus on the meaning of the song and the meaning behind the words being sung. Try to get behind that heartbroken anger that rides through the entire song. Don't be afraid of it being messy, because that's the point. Grief IS messy, and if you're too worried about making it sound "pretty", then you are sacrificing the very soul of this song, and no matter how perfect you may play it, people are gonna notice. I hope you take this to heart and that it doesn't offend you. You are doing great. you all have an awesome sound.

I love you guys, and this song takes me Back to HS, so maybe I just expect more out of you guys because you’re awesome and more out of this song because it has expectations to meet; but I’m actually a little disappointed with the production in this one. The chorus needs to be a “huge” sound, vocal layering and harmonies don’t portray that here, and the guitar feels very compressed. Those chorus vocals also need a little bit of aggression, like go freakin nuts. Maybe it’s just me. Still love you guys.

Thank you I was hoping someone else heard that as well. This cover has zero feeling in it. They are very talented, don't get me wrong, but what made MCR, and many bands of that era so phenomenal was the emotion you could feel in every aspect of the song. This just sounds overproduced and without feeling. The notes are dead on but that is not what makes a great rendition. They needed to either reinterpret the song, or just find a reason this song resonates with them as individuals and exude that emotion into the recording. Not bad but no good. No passion. They are trying to appropriate the song and style but they do not have their own proper style. This is the problem with 'cover bands' they have great voices, great instruments, Technics but not soul. They are just music engineer.
