Parabéns, os Genesis são um grupo de rock progressivo que excedem este tipo de música, possuem uma musicalidade com raízes na música clássica. Belo arranjo, boa execução. Podia ser mais dinâmico. Obrigado.

Bravo! What a fine arrangement to get to the soul of the song. Love it.

Beautiful arrangement and playing here, but just goes to show that no matter how much you dress it up, you still can't beat the original. Also, without the exquisite guitar solo, this just becomes another song. I dare say that Hackett's solo is one of the greatest moments in all of music history.

Of course this is another song : it MUST be another song ! :) Why couldn't we love both the Genesis original and this 'new thing' ?

I agree this 100 piece orchestra can not beat the 4 piece Genesis.

This is just a small sample of how immensely great Genesis and its members were. Really Giants. I think they still have not received the recognition they deserve.

"As the river dissolves in sea, so Neptune has claimed another soul. And so, with gods and men, the sheep remain inside their pen until the Shepherd leads his flock away." I recited these lines as we scattered my father's ashes into the Pacific Ocean a week ago. St. Joseph, patron of departing souls, pray for us.

Buenísimo! Aunque me falta el piano....

Actually, this gets better as the orchestra gets into it. The start seems a big stiff and wooden, but the second section with all the strings playing seems more fluid.

Brilliant rendition! Not perfect, but brilliant. The intro could have used a bit more bottom end. Also, some notes were left out of Steve's solo which kind of took away from its majesty and fluidity. In addition, though I have no problem with electric bass, I'd have love to have heard the bass lines played on double bass. I'd love to have heard an interpretation by the late Sir Charles Mackerras. I'm just nit picking though. It's a very evocative performance.

But it was somewhat marred by the substitution of the flute instead of the piano
@chriscarter28406 ай бұрын
No. The interplay in the woodwind and brass is what makes it more interesting and more subtle. I don't want a orchestra trying to be Tony Banks, I want them to be an orchestra

This doesn't work, sadly. It starts off wrong straight from the first notes, using flutes and woodwinds instead of a grand piano, and then starting the "instrumental section" by echoing flutes with more bloody flutes. The genius of the Genesis original is that flute echoed the piano intro, and then the echo turned into synth, and then guitar that played like a virtuosic violin solo. Each echo took us further into the landscape of the world the band had built. But this version doesn't do this at all. We are left outside, trying to look in, seeing not enough to make us explore. And frankly, using a Rock drumkit in a symphonic version of a Rock song is wrong, too, in my opinion. It leaves the potential strength of an orchestra unused, unexplored. I would have liked to have enjoyed this.

You wonder why they chose to do this, did all of them listen to the original recording or just reading the music ?

The oboe has just the right tone and timbre. I‘m always thought about the sound of it, when hearing Steve‘s solo playing. But the velocity is unbalanced between the rhythm section and the soloist at the start of the „guitar solo“.
