Years ago, the late “ Don Roland” used to do the graphic design and pattern pages for the Leathercrafters journal. It was his enthusiasm that peaked my interest in this art form. Don died about 3 years ago... but his artwork and precision carving lives on .

Hi Chris, Thanks for putting this on for us to watch. I deal with several leather suppliers, hardware companies and leather tanneries, including Tandy and Weaver, Buckle Guy and others. I'm surprised that I hadn't heard about this show. If it weren't for this video I would have never heard of it and if I would have known about I would have attended it!

look at the price of attendance.

@@MountainFisher It's free to attend, unless you are a vendor at the show. Also, Sheridan, Wy. show provides free catered events the weekend of show. Can't beat it!

@@FischerWorkshopsTaiwan I saw the $100 reservation price and $65 for a basics stitching class and thought it must be expensive to attend.

@@MountainFisherCorrect, attending classes and workshops costs money, but admission to the show is free.

Thanks for another great video, Chris. I agree with what you say around minute 6. I can't compete on price with the stuff coming out of India and Asia, but what I make is better, the leather is better, and some people value that it was made where they live.

I have subscribed to Leather Crafters for almost 20 years but have never gone to the Waco Trade show, now I know why. I received your packet of information today and it seems that this show is more of a school show than a trade show. I've gone to Wichita Falls ever sense they were in Brownwood so I guess after 30 years in the leather, saddle and boot business I will skip the school show. The prices are totally out of line for the schools unless the instructors are only doing schools and not manufacturing products. Kitchens Custom Saddles and Boots located in Brady Texas has a nice clientele of mostly working ranchers needing to stay in the saddle or on their feet and that is what I do for them. I thought a trade show was supposed to be just that -- vendors supplying goods for the leather industry and for the small shops to continue working. Business is slow yes, but the economy is down also, and it will pick up as the world turns. I go to Wichita Falls every year and have many friends there to visit with. If the school prices are any indication of what the vendors will be charging, I will just stay home. Thanks for the magazine, the patterns, and the information and I hope the show does well, but it will be without me. Jim Kitchens -- Kitchens Custom Saddles Brady Texas
