Despite his last name, the young man has not started a COLLEGE game yet, let alone actually performed well in any big games. If you think he's guaranteed to be not just good but GREAT, you are buying a lottery ticket. Hell, if he's ELI MANNING, would you tank for that? Barely .500 winning percentage and he "right place, right timed" his way to two Super Bowl wins where he only needed to score 38 combined points to win. Dak puts more fear into defenses than Eli. On the flip side, the original "Arch" probably "wrong place, wrong timed" himself into much less of a career than he deserved. Moral of the story - built the damn team better top to bottom.

Lot's of reasons. He's now the scapegoat, and can be blamed for Stephen continuing to do nothing in free agency. If they happen to get really really lucky with a couple draft classes, they could reignite their championship window before the end of his contract, meaning they have a franchise QB on the roster. (Granted, he was extended prior to the hamstring tear and may no longer be a franchise QB, but that's hindsight) Another reason is that there really isn't much on the roster you have to or want to pay. Micah, Tyler Smith in a couple years, and that's about it. You gotta spend all your cap every 3 or 4 years anyways, so why not just throw it all at a franchise QB? This kind of goes back to my first point where Dak is the scapegoat. This way Stephen doesn't have to even consider doing anything in free agency b/c he can just blame Dak for his cap hit.

I'm a Longhorns fan, and I even think that's ridiculous. The Cowboys would have to literally trade out of the 12TH pick to a second round pick and get future 1ST round picks in order for that to happen. On top of all that, they would have to try and lose to make that even happen, justified, while giving up future picks. So if he's eligible next season, you'd have to do it this season or deliberately tank your season twice or tank your season in the future, which sounds even dumber. You can't win by losing or get better by pissing off the players, coaches, and the fanbase, by telling them it's part of the process, for one player who may or may not come out right away. This upcoming draft in few months is the 2025 draft...which Manning isn't eligible /available. Ready? Ok, here it goes again... The Cowboys tank would begin on September 2025 to get the #1 draft pick for the draft that would take place 2026. It's in that draft that theoretically Arch Manning would be available. There's a few generational talent type of players that it would make sense tanking for. It's a fact that teams in the NFL do this, it happens in other sports especially when generational type players are available. The Cavs tanked for LeBron James. The Spurs tanked for Robinson, Duncan and Wemby. The Colts tanked for Andrew Luck. The Dallas Cowboys should do everything to land Arch Manning.

His most likely draft class would be 2027. That would give him 2 years as a starter at Texas, and as a Texas fan, I hope he plays through his junior year.
