Are you able to open exe files on HoloLens?

I don't think so. How development on HoloLens works is that you start on Unity or at least a Visual Studio project. For this game, we built it from Unity, and it was compiled into a Visual Studio project application. From Visual Studio, you can deploy your project to the HoloLens, and it is represented as an application inside the HoloLens menu. You don't open executables like on the computer. The HoloLens functions more similarly to your phone. You can open apps.
