Lots of people would use that water for a fish soup. I saw fish heads in soup in Costa Rica and gave away the bones and heads to people for soup. I didn't like the soup. I put together a dead turtle skull like that there too. But it was cleaned by crabs and bugs and it was ready. It was awesome but I couldn't bring it back. Cool project! I'd be happy to display it. awesome!! thanks for the video. I did this with a good size Cabezon that I speared over there in Washington State. took me a long time. i initially boiled it to long and bones broke so figuring out what went togethere was tough. but came out ok..

Love the vids man, kayak fished the Banana River today and I got some nice Reds, trout, and Snapper, biggest Red was 25", trout biggest was 14" and I kept 4 snapper that were 11-14" oh and got a nice little black drum on my last cast, it was 14.5 inches and cooked it up for dinner on the half shell! Tight lines, love watching the locals like you do it best!

To make this doing this easier on you and not stink up your house. We use a turkey cooker with a propane tank. I’ve never done a European mount on a fish scull before but I’ve done plenty of deer sculls that way. When you buy one try to fine one that doesn’t have a timer on it. I hope this will help you on your next European mount.

Gorilla glue gel in the dispenser works great for these type projects.the container is very precise with glue amount and placement.

Man that's awesome but a solder station would make your life 100x easier. Put some heat shrink over the jaws and it won't scratch the bones. I am excited to try this with a flounder. You da man

Hello Joey, first of all: it's very nice of you to share your technique here on KZbin, and if you hadn't said you would like the feedback of a biologist I would have minded my own business. However, I am a biologist who also likes to prepare fish skulls, and I did notice that a lot of bones in your skull ended up in the wrong place, or were not included. I did a very large cubera skull last year, and since it was a once in a lifetime chance for me (they are not native to The Netherlands were I live) I took extra care to get it right. It is difficult to explain here were each part should go, but if you have Whatsapp I can send you a picture of all parts of a cubera skull laid out in the right order, and a picture of the finished skull. By the way, the tile fish behind you looks a lot more anatomically correct. And thanks for the baking soda tip, I did not now that.

Best and easy way I found is you put your fish head in a minnow trap and set it by a ant pile. They clean everything off just the bones left less work
