They really need to start watching this in our schools. Why not, they teach our kids about recycling & saving the planet?We've got to start somewhere because the way we're currently living off of the ocean is just not sustainable for much longer. They need to immediately stop the commercial fishing until they can come up with a way, to be able to fish for a certain product, without having to kill & discard thousands of other fish back into the water, as collateral damage. This was incredibly hard to watch, but I'm so glad that I did. Very well & bravely done, Mariana - you never disappoint!

Buying the frozen bycatch from Chinese trawlers is actually incredibly smart and environmentally sustainable. Those are fish/catch that would normally be tossed back into the ocean dead by ANY international fishing vessel. It's ironic and counter-intuitive but actually makes sense.

Ghanain here. Never knew saiko is from an illegal source. its basically sold throughout the country. sometimes transporting the non-frozen fish cross country is cumbersome because you have to spend on iceblocks and all. Saiko makes the job easier.

The amount of bi-catch from just one single net from the shrimp and crab trawler is the reason the ocean will NOT survive without serious intervention.Just imagine how many ships across the world are doing that every single day. Not only is it just a waste but it's destroying whole ecosystems and species that are necessary for a healthy ocean and planet. All so we,including myself can eat some shrimp, crab or fish. But I'm learning and trying to buy sustainable

The NRC recently published data that showed the nuclear reactor at Indian Point killed some 3 billion small fish, and trillions of baby fish every year! It was concluded that nuclear power plants ( and there are 90+ of them operating in the US) with their 40 foot diameter intake pipes have done more damage than "overfishing by commercial fleets"!!!

Your actions, although laudable, will have no impact on the the problem. This is a problem that require huge government intervention. The USA needs to start sinking thousands of these poaching boats. Only USA boats can fish our waters. The boundary needs to expand out to 200-500 miles. No more fishing that is not sustainable. Get serious.

My family don't eat any fish. I tell my kids the only good seafood is fresh from that day and frozen seafood is disgusting. I was raised up with a different thoughts of use what you need and leave for the next generation. We don't even eat any kind of meats for weeks. A lot of pasta and fresh produce and my kids are full adults now with great health.

No. Have you ever actually been vegan? I bet not. I was vegan for 5 years starting at 13 and it wrecked my health. It wasn’t until I ate meat again that my headaches stopped and I could actually think clearly. Don’t spread this nonsense, especially to young kids on the internet.
