Maturity determines the shape and habit of the water clover. In the overgrown hydrocotyle (pennywort) bowl, perhaps you could try the H. tripartita "Japan"variety instead as it will stay small.
@Guppy_Girl4 ай бұрын
@@michaelkidd1065 I actually have H. tripartita in there too. I had a little voice in my head telling me the H. verticillata was going to end up everywhere in the bowl because of runners, but I didn’t expect it to emerge out. Increased growth speed x10. 😂

@@IvansGuppies I want to make some new strains that no one has done yet, or ones that are unique. Right now I’ve been working with magenta gene guppies that come out light pink, and I’m trying to get a pin or spear tail in another strain. I’ll go over it in more detail in the next video where I go over all my strains and projects.

@@Guppy_Girl Looking forward to that video. Magenta is an interesting gene to work with! It surprised me that Snow White guppies carried this gene. Magenta, together with some others, contributes to them being white.

How did you mount the light diffuser shelf to the glass⁉🤔🤔🤔
@Guppy_Girl4 ай бұрын
The large white lights at the top are LED Shop lights and come with the diffuser built in. They are a few inches longer that the racks so I am able to rest them on the top shelf of the racks. There's no wood on the very top shelf. Is that what you are referring to? None of my tanks have light defuses on the back panel of the glass, it’s just the wall behind the tank being lit by the lights above.

Do you use any ferts if so what ferts ? Lush plants like that without CO2 is awesome the only way would be lighting and ferts... I'm struggling to grow buce and even java moss.. its hard to grow those without flow and colder water. Also subscribed !!
@Guppy_Girl4 ай бұрын
I'm always experimenting with fertilizers. Currently what I've been using for 8 months is, Hector's Everything (all-in-one powder fertilizer), Seachem Equilibrium (for increasing water hardness since my tap water is extremely soft, but it also contains potassium, magnesium, calcium, and manganese). I also on occasion use ADA Nitrogen if I notice new leaves are coming out very small and not growing to a normal size. That's a symptom of a nitrogen deficiency so I use the ADA Nitrogen fertilizer if I start seeing that. My lighting isn't blindingly bright, but I consider it medium to high depending on the area of the tank. It's my belief that the higher the light the faster the plant's metabolism is, so more light means the plant will grow faster but also needs more nutrients to keep up with the faster growth rate. It's situational since some plants can get burnt from too high light and plants like buce and java fern can tolerate very low light conditions. My guess is that you might want to lightly fertilize an all-in-one fertilizer for a few weeks and see how the plants react. Buce and java fern are already slowish growers but they may just need a little more food if lighting is anything but low light.
@StoopidMonkey084 ай бұрын
@@Guppy_Girl interesting, I use APT 0 fertilizer which contains 0 nitrates since I found out I alr have excess nitrates from fish waste, and the food I also do less water changes. Tried the banana peel water someone mentioned on reddit as potassium fert but failed miserably as it not only polluted and made my aquarium mosquito infested water, but also failed to produce any result it was utterly useless... I'm now experimenting with commercial NPK ferts used for crop productions, except I'm using the ones without Urea and excess phostphate ones. So from what I experimented so far,I dilute 5 grains of it in 2 litres of water, and yeah I dissolve them in water and add a sponge filter with some hornwort and algae scrubber(basically hair algae in a box to get those excess ammonia and excess nutrients get sucked) for 5 days, then I add the water to my tanks, bi weekly and it's had great results only thing is it will have a lot of surface scum and will spoil the water if used in excess and also the only fishes and shrimps I've tried it with were harlequin rasboras, black neons and Cardinals, also I've lost all my apple snails, and even loaches.... I haven't tried it with shrimps yet but I guess the result would be similar with invertebrates or I may be wrong, the main thing it can be used but in less quantity and careful monitoring required I love to experiment great stuff..

Can i use commercial NPK fertilizer used in gardening as fertilizer here in aquariums ? I will mix granules in water and use that as liquid fertilizer just to clarify is it safe
@Guppy_Girl4 ай бұрын
@@gamer400-n5c If you know it’s safe then I don’t see any problems. I would keep an eye on any snails and shrimp in the tank because sometimes things that are safe for fish aren’t safe for snails or shrimp. The only gardening fertilizer I’ve tried out in my tanks was osmocote. My biggest issue with it was that I put too much and it made my ammonia levels fly off the charts. The ammonia wasn’t from a tank crash it was being released by the fertilizer. I put the osmocote in the substrate so had to redo the tank. If you’re experimenting with garden fertilizer start off with a small out first, no harm can be done if it’s too little, but too much fertilizer could cause algae issues or ammonia spikes like what happened to me. In a weeks time you should be able to see a difference in plant growth and figure out if you need more or less fertilizer. Best of luck. 🫡

@@Guppy_Girl thanks 😊 and another clarification, can I use crushed lava rock/crushed bricks in substrate layer to hold beneficial bacteria? Will that help
@Guppy_Girl4 ай бұрын
@@gamer400-n5c I’ve used lava rock in my own tanks without a problem but there are reports of it leaching metals into the water. Just something to keep in mind. I used them without a noticeable problem but there is always a risk. I assume brick may have a similar issue with leaching minerals into the water. I’ve heard brick can slowly increase pH over time, which may be a good thing depending on the species you are keeping. But it’s different for everyone because we all source our lava rocks and bricks from different areas. I’ve also used terracotta pots in some of my tanks and have noticed a slight increase in pH compared to my other tanks. Usually my tanks are 6.8-7.0 but with terracotta pots it went to 7.6 pH. Sorry it isn’t a yes or no answer for you. Best thing is to do some research on it and make the decision for yourself. I would feel bad telling you it’s safe and then having the brick or lava rock you use ruin your tank.

Hi, one question, how to control the humidity in the room? Thanks 😊
@Guppy_Girl4 ай бұрын
@@Acuarios-jr4re The fish room is not a fully closed off room, there is a large space above one of the wall in there exposing the air in there to the rest of my apartment. That allows me to run a large dehumidifier in the room next door. In the summer I use a window AC unit and that has also been working like a dehumidifier, taking moisture out of the air.
