Thanks. I may not be the best fisherman on the creek, however, I do treat the people really well and have the patents it takes to be a good guide.

Looked like the guy rowing the boat hooked up on more fish by just taking two strokes back..looks to be good guide.

That happens more when they go for it early. I don't do much if they sit still and let them get on there like the one when the guy was looking at his cell phone.

Lesson is…. Sit on your hands….. wait to be told to get the rod…. and for the love of god, don’t hook set or jerk when running plugs!!! 😂

Hey Mike, great video! Do you typically wrap your plugs in tuna belly/coonie? And when the water gets lower, do you still run maglip 4.0s (saw you mention that in another comment).

That was all sardine-wrapped. Depending on the water color is when I drop down to a 3.5

Always been a fan I think you're one of the best guides out there on the West Coast just your style is great. Question what kind of reels are you using when you're plugged fishing? Thanks

Hey brother I got a question for you, I’m new to pulling plugs and can’t seem to get the hang of keeping the damn boat straight, I always see guys standing with the oars almost vertical twisting their wrists? I don’t understand the concept? Any help would greatly appreciated, tight lines brother!

You can row while leaving the oars in the water for one. There are many advantages to doing it as well as just a way to use different mussels to row, so sometimes, just a switch up on reason really. For instance, it allows me to move sideways without turning the ass end of the boat left or right, it will just slide the way you pull the oar. How you do it is to pull it through the water like you are cutting water with a knife instead of lifting it out of the water to grab another dig. Then you give a 1/4 twist and pull the way you want the boat to move. For instance, I'm in a straight line pulling plugs and I got her stopped up and I want to move felt without going downstream. Say I have just taken a pullback on both oars, and they are still in the water, as you get to the end of the stroke you rotate the oar a 1/4 twist putting the blade in line with the current, now push both oars forward until the handles are straight up. Now neither oar is affecting boat movement they are bladded with the current like a rutteer. If you give the right oar a pull to the left the oar will push water to the right and move the boat left without moving the ass end left, it will just slide over. It may take a few strokes. Now at the same time, we have to be mindful of how the left oar is bladded in the current we can use it as a rutter to help keep the boat straight, now push it out to the left and now you just moved it left by sculling both oars. I like to use the one as a rutter and the other as a thruster. It's more accurate. In the wind, you can row without the blades becoming wind sails by leaving them in the water and sculling. You are basically using the oar to push or pull water in the direction you want the boat to move while leaving the oars in the water. You blade to one way to grab water and the other way to reach for water by moving the oar a 1/4 turn. You are cutting water with the blade when you don't want to move water and you are pushing or pulling it with the blade in any direction you need to move the boat or pull water. It's not all about pushing and pulling forward or backward we use the blade to pull or push sideways as well. I hope this helps. It's hard and takes time and effort to learn.
