I did this a few years ago for a Hobbit Shire tank and it worked well but was a lot of work to clean- putting an under-gravel filter below the turf helped significantly. Looks good 👍🏼

Hello! An interesting composition, reminiscent of a hangar against the backdrop of a rock garden. I think that fish should be kept small, such as neon, because large ones will have a lot of waste products. They will accumulate under artificial grass and there may be a bacterial outbreak with a skewed aquarium water reading.

Biggest disadvantage is over the time because of the fish poop, the green color of the grass turns into brownish color and all the poop gets accumulated in between the artificial grass and beneath that carpet in lots quantity. And this is a huge task to remove and it can also hamper with waters ph level and overall quality. Note: It looks good initially..like really nice... I had this 1.5 yrs ago but removed it due to above mentioned issues.

I put it my big koi pond, my big Koi ate the algea growing on it and the artificial grass kill my koi (i suspected it cut the koi stomach) , I remove all of them from the pond. The chemical from artificial grass base can harm koi also...

I guess I just don’t understand why this isn’t a planted tank with dwarf hair grass or something similar. That way whatever detritus collects becomes fertilizer for the plants… plastic is only going to get nasty over time.

Easier said than done. I did it for years and it's hard to maintain over time and more time consuming. Switched to this and 7 months passed by all is good. Easy to clean, vacuum and stuff without so much hassle compare to the real one.

This looks really nice, but my concern would be for long term. I dont trust the grass makers and chemicals they put on it. Plus once it sheds over time in water it cant be good for the fish to graze on. Beautiful but I also love a natural planted tank even more. Much more safe.
