Francis, make that central air piping system as loop. Don’t leave it as a end. Pressure will be even if it is loop.

Usually people suggest to syphon water from bottom near gravel/sand due to high toxic concentration. In your system you have placed the water outlet in top. Just wanted to know, does it really matters from where we remove water during weekly changes?

I just bought SunSun 604B for my small aquarium. In this setup there is 4 layers of sponge ( Coarse, fine, very fine, wool pad) from top to bottom. There is some space provided above and below this setup. I have put Seachem matrix after the wool pad near outlet. I looking to add chemical media either Carbon or purigen. Could you please suggest me where to place it without affecting beneficial bacteria?

Carbon validity is 3 months . After that u need to remove and add a new one.. purigen can be regenerated by using clorox bleach once in 3 months.. place them in 2 rack from bottom
