Hi, I'm heading there in the next few days. I have Tazzie devils and Toby lures. Would they work with this technique?
@CompleteAnglerNZL5 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim, tazzies and tobys work fine,. If there is current they are best fished on the drift like a soft bait - on the swing. If there is no or little current, let them sink and retrieve them slowly for best results. When you do let them sink, pay attention as the fish will often grab them on the way down like a fluttering jig. Cheers Malcolm

what braid, pound etc do you use?
@CompleteAnglerNZL5 жыл бұрын
Hi I'm using 10lb braid. Having tried all sorts, in my opinion the best by far is Daiwa Evo www.completeangler.co.nz/daiwa-evo-tournament-braid-10lb-150m-5135

How deep is the canal?
@huntzz216 жыл бұрын
So how exactly do you use a "sounder"? I'm not even sure what you are talking about as I think it's getting a little lost in translation between there and here in the US.
@prettygreen60855 жыл бұрын
huntzz21 look up something called a ‘deeper. It’s an orange and black ball
@newzealandadventures26655 жыл бұрын
A sounder is a fish finder. It uses radio frequency which bounces off the fish, this information is then translated to the phone screen showing black images of fish travelling past the “sounder” this is how you know where the fish are

Excellent explanation, but it is a shame that the music is higher than his voice, making it very difficult to follow carefully

What landing net would you recommend?
@CompleteAnglerNZL6 жыл бұрын
Hi Craig, the net that the staff uses is the McLean Saltwater Measure & Weight XXL. This it big enough and long enough to land the huge trout we are catching down there. It's got a strap so that you can wear it on your back. This is the way to go. www.completeangler.co.nz/mclean-saltwater-measure-weight-xxl-rubber-landing-net-3925

Have you ever tossed spoons at those monsters? Maybe try drifting a Dick Nite brand micro spoon? Dick Nites are the ticket for Salmon/Steehead in the Pacific Northwest rivers/streams.

Seen lots of fish get caught on spoons last weekend. Worked a treat on letting them sink to.bottom and slow retrieve

@@firepvp4968 I did a lot of research and found if your gear is decent it doesnt matter. Been reeling closed my entire life. Besides they're designed to close when you reel. As for cross line knots. Ive had 0 of those in my entire life. To each their own i suppose.
