Great band. One of the best live shows I’ve seen - NYC in 1990. Under rated. Their sound is still fresh.

I feel like I am last of a dying breed. I went to a Fishbone show and I was the only youngish dark skinned person there. I love the idea of soul, gospel, funk inspired energetic rock, but it seems liek I am the last adherent

Had no idea these guys were on Arsenio back in the day. And have no idea why these guys never exploded like RHCP or Living Color. They weren't hitmakers but they rocked. And the onstage energy? They invented it.
@jetcheneau5811 Жыл бұрын
there was a lot of personal turmoil amongst these guys, the guitar player became a religious zealot and they tried and failed to save him, that and their music was incredibly leftist/liberationist in nature and far too uncomfortable for the conservative mainstream of the '80s and '90s

Jet here nailed it almost completely. A black band along with those ideals, no way the music industry would have or could let that by. We live in a shit country, folks. Time to accept it.

Fishbone leapt from a great height. Did you catch them?
@IanSmithStuckUpStickerCompany2 жыл бұрын
Yes I did, many times over the years actually. Last time was at the Stone Pony where they were playing an after party for one of those huge, bloated 'festival' abortions that Asbury has. They were off the fucking chain, I think that Angelo had just discovered the theramin as an instrument, he was all over it. Amazing set to about 40 people.

Saw the in Brooklyn recently (summer '24) Angelo and the keyboard player were the only originals left. The performance was good enough but not near this.

Why does an extra guy come out to play trumpet for ten seconds? They have a trumpet player in the band already.

@@jfmax2000 Gotta say, after listening to this, the energy level was so high it made me want to crash through a brick wall like the Kool-Aid guy. Then, all of a sudden, the trumpet plays and it's such a beautiful sound I go from feeling all pumped up to suddenly having tears in my eyes.
