In our modern era, machines can stamp out hundreds of identical copies of an item. Jim Matthews' demonstrates that artistry, craftsmanship and care were once required to produce everything.

Do you do any type of cold work to the edges?

No, these are natural rounded edges from the heat of the kiln.

do you have to put some sort of glaze or something in it when it is done in the kiln for it to be safe to eat off of or is it safe to eat off if when it is done in the kiln and after being washed?

It is considered safe as long as the glasses used do not contain levels of lead or cadmium that are potentially harmful. None of the glasses used here fall into that category. However, if necessary to render those glasses food-safe, I would add a surface layer of clear glass.
