I have this same deck, part of my Fisher rack system. Just picked up a DD-280 that came with other Fisher gear.

I actually was lucky to purchase DD-300 service manual which helped me not just replace the idler tire but also calibrate this deck without any special tapes, just with iPhone and multimeter.

Very nice deck! I still have mine.

This was a pretty good deck in the day. I had a DD280, with metal tape it sounded great.

I got one today, but the take up reel, ff and rew don't function, Capstan motor is fine, it did play for a little while but a little slow. Is it worth trying to fix

How are these Fisher units for a new comer looking to get started with a hi-fi setup?. There’s some MCS units for sale locally as well as JvC. Thanks!.

I like these decks due to the direct drive capstan motor they use, very stable speed!

Hey man i have a problem, I tried to change belts on a KRC-939 (one of the units you worked on) and while trying to take out the cassette mechanism i stripped one screw and now im stuck with it not being able to take out the mechanism , the screw is complete stripped and it’s one of the longer ones that hold the mechanism… :( what can I do do you have any recommendations if that ever happened to you? maybe I should use different screw drivers next time …

A quick thing you can try is to super glue the end of a screwdriver in the stripped screw,, once its dry twist it counter clockwise quickly! you will only get one try before the bond breaks loose, this might work better by heating up the screw before you glue the screwdriver to it, if this don't work then you can try to grasp the head of the screw with a pair of wire cutters, if you can get a good bite on the screw then twist quickly, it will come out, of course this assumes you have access to get wire cutters on the screw, lastly you can cut the head of the screw off with a Dremel tool, remove the mechanism and then drill the rest of the screw out, again assuming you have access to get to the screw with the tool.

How many heads does this machine have?
@luvradios Жыл бұрын
The DD-300 is a 2-head unit.

I believe it was a 3 head deck.@@luvradios

@@davidtennien2806 ,There's one listed on eBay but I don't see a tape/source switch on the unit which would indicate a 3-head model.
