I definitely agree with changing the fluid in the fall prior to the winter. You may have fresh fluid in the spring and summer but it may get moisture in it in those months of not being used. So you’re using fluid with moisture in it heading into the winter. At least that’s what how I feel

Yep I think the most important thing is that the fluid actually get changed! I have to do a fluid change in 2 more plows , hopefully this week if it warms up some!

Thanks for the video, a breakdown in the last storm has kicked me in the butt and now I'm catching up on maintenance on my MVP3.

what kind of fluid your putting in ?
@grumpy13114 жыл бұрын
I use the Fisher fluid . It is pricey considering the comparable options which would probably work just as well.

@@grumpy1311 i cant get the fisher fluid , so shiuld a put any kind of hydraulic fluid ?
@grumpy13114 жыл бұрын
@@germainmallet778 I would definitely try to get some kind plow pump fluid , even if a generic version. It has to remain thin at colder temps than average hydraulic fluid. Have someone run to Napa or something to get some ❄❄

How often do you change the filter? I was told yearly with the oil?
@grumpy13114 жыл бұрын
You mean the pick up screen? I know with the Xv2 , going by the manual, the annual fluid change does not recommend changing the screen. Also the local Fisher Techs say not to mess with it if not causing issues. I think with some of the older model plow pumps they might recommend cleaning the pick up screen , not sure. I know the mesh on the screen is ultra fine and can clog with contaminated fluid easily. That said, I have ran the Xv2 for 6 years with annual fluid changes without changing any filter with good results . What we really need here in Maine is SNOW. Only 1.5 snow events this season vs 14 at this time last year. Winter is not happening here.

@@grumpy1311 Yes the filter screen, definitely don’t want to do it 😂 I had to use ATF last storm bc I had a leak so need to change the fluid for sure, but they told me to change all my filters when I do the oil change. That sounds awful. Don’t mind the oil changes, but dismounting all the pumps and opening them and all that noise makes me nauseous. I’ve done 3 of 6, one of them was bad. The other pick up screens were clean.

Is the fluid the same method on a mm2 as yours? Would like to change my fluid no idea when it was done last,just bought the truck with the plow on it so want to do maintenance! Beautiful truck I got a 05 Silverado 2500hd 6.0L

patrick crawford I think the MM2 pump is a bit different configuration, but same idea. Maybe try get an owner's manual for a minute mount 2 and see what that says or maybe reach out to a local dealership. Some guys can get away with running stuff for years without maintenance... but not me hahaha

You want fresh fluid going into the winter, idc if you change it in the spring then you should be changing it again in the fall the hot cold cycles day / night will suck moisture into the fluid over the summer. I am sure you misspoke but, the filter screen collapsed from suction not pressure.
