My family (Great Grandma) lived in Fisherrow. John and Margaret Brown of Fisherrow Musselburgh and their son (my great uncle) John Clarke Brown who died in Tobruk and his name is on the war monument. I loved the Italian ice cream shop in Musselburgh and the harbour 💕

I remember as a child seeing the women carrying creels full of fish with the strap across their forehead. Goodness I must be ancient.

Must have been a spectacle watching these ladies carrying the fish to market.

I’m old enough to remember this too. One used to come to Penicuik with her creel, and dressed in traditional costume.
