Why? Maxel is a proven brand that prides itself on making durable, high quality reels so why should where it’s made matter?

She’s nice but a little out of my range How do you feel about the maxel hybrids they seem pretty nice to me?
@Fishin2036 жыл бұрын
anthony alessi I’ll have a video about that coming out soon. A real review. I’ve been using a hybrid for a year and IMO they’re not worth the price

The factory that makes the Maxel reels in China is the same factory that makes the Jigging Master reels (remember those Taiwanese guys?). Basically, after that factory saw how Jigging Master was creaming it, they decided to launch their own brand, Maxel. That is why if you look at the Jigging Master reels and compare them to the Maxel reels, they are the same. So, if you know anything about the Jigging Master reels, they have always been known for their high drags. In fact, before the Jigging Master guys decided to sell their own reels, they had a relationship with Accurate and used to modify the old Boss reels to beef up their drags and sell them in Taiwan. So, here is the thing, if you have used enough Accurate reels before, you would know they always over-state their drag figures. I have an old Boss Magnum 665H and I would struggle to squeeze 20lbs of max drag out of it. And a friend of mine has a Boss Extreme II BX2-30N and it could barely touch 25lbs. Since you have all the reels, may be you can try to measure their drag? Anyway, may be you can put the Maxel through its paces and see how it compares with the Valiant. On the other hand, I am quite interested in the new Accurate Tern twin-star drag reel. Personally, I find it much easier to cast a star drag reel with cast control for live baiting than using a lever drag.

Alex Fu thanks for the info! You obviously know your reels! I actually just got the tern and I’m gunna do a review on that soon but I like the drag testing idea I’ll keep that in mind

@Fishin203 Hey, I just realized you also have the Trinidad, I think it would be great if could do a face-off type video if you will. LOL. I have just looked around a bit, it seems if Accurate is not overstating their drag figures again, the Tern could well be the most powerful star drag reel out there. I looked at the Trinidad, its max drag is 17lbs until you get to the bigger models which is 25lbs. I looked at the Daiwa Saltist Star Drag, again its max drag is 17lbs until you get to the bigger sizes which is also 25lbs like the Trinidad. The Daiwa Saltiga Star Drag is 17.6lbs for the smaller sizes and also 25lbs for the bigger sizes. Accurate might well have a niche advantage here.

You like this or the accurate bv-300 better?
@Fishin2036 жыл бұрын
Richard Johnson I’ll give that answer probably in it’s own video once I use it for the 2018 season. I gotta put it to the test!
@richardjohnson337556 жыл бұрын
Fishin203 right on! Cant seem to decide on a lever drag to purchase. Pretty much like everything about the accurate bv-400 but its $500 so I'm looking at the options to make sure I def like it before pull the trigger. Started looking at the avet sx and been working my way up the chain. Good videos!

Richard Johnson thanks a lot man I appreciate it! Really you can’t go wrong right now with what’s on the market. I heard the new gen 2 avets are incomparably better than the old ones and around that same price range the seigler/truth/release whatever they are now are bulletproof.

Have you used, or know anyone that have used the Seigler 303 Narrow? I haven't pulled the trigger yet, I was hoping you had some insight.
@Fishin2036 жыл бұрын
Jeff Brinkman I haven’t checked the new narrows out yet but I do have an original release sg and a truth sg and they are great little reels.
@jeffbrinkman6846 жыл бұрын
Thanks - I have a Okuma metaloid lever drag - single speed I am not a fan of...not an instant anti reverse, and when fighting, the bottom of the reel is not chamfered where the main gear protrudes, so I get blisters/cuts on my pinky finger. Any reason you went maxel over other similar/lower priced reels?
@Fishin2036 жыл бұрын
Jeff Brinkman this year I want to grab a couple of overseas reels and see how they stack up to the American made. I’ll be doing a Poseidon review pretty soon when that comes in and those reels are dirt cheap
