Nice video and showcases the Maxel Rage beautifully. I'm the NZ Distributor for Maxel and have made some explanations here. The Rage series is designed for Slow Pitch jigging in the Japanese market. In Japan, anglers can jig down to 900m which explains why the capacity for this R60H is in PE2. Also noteworthy, is that the drag is detuned because of its light line use. There is a second strike position on the lever drag crescent too. The Transformer F60H has the high drag cam but not quite as blingy.

Hey Chris, Thanks man! Cool.....I hate making assumptions but that's really the only ting I could think of. At least it all added up to that. There's literally zero info on the reels. The gradual ramp up for the drag cam, lower max drag, capacity listing. Narrow 65x25mm spool with monster handle. And price tag...all said marketed for slow pitch jigging.

Sure is. I usually lump the plastic in with Delrin........I have no idea why.....Usually I get delrin stuck in my head after cooking and using a cutting board lol. That's exactly what it's there for. Take up some of the handle in and out play. And minimize friction if it rubs.

@@TackleAdvisors lol wow, guess it's not even showing notifications for replies now, just now saw when someone liked it lol. Yea, from what I had read solid sheet Teflon does really well at both those because you aren't affected really by heat or cold. Nice to see though since it can tighten it up without really harming the smoothness. The dual ar is a nice touch as well. Nothing I would really need one for here, unless i hooked into a bill shark maybe down at the Gulf lol. Probably be pretty nice features for some of the larger amberjack and stuff when they are hanging out near the bottom and not really biting, still probably overkill.

I'll have to get one. I have a JM PE5 and PE7 that ive been fishing since 2009. I prefer them to my gorilla 12c. In my humble opinion, the greatest verticle jigging conventional reel of all time isn't a lever drag reel. Its the gold shimano trinidad 40N and the ocea jigger 4000P from 2010 with upgraded carbontex drags of course.

@@TackleAdvisors the blue rose is a beautiful rod, but i ended up selling mine and had a synit 200g custom 5'6" built. I've actually hooked into a triple digit warsaw on that set up and lost him at the boat because it had tore up my leader in the fight. Those JM reels are beast. I alternate between the PE5 and the Trinidad 16na for that rod. The AJ in my profile pic was caught on the custom synit and trinidad 16na. Small little reel, but very smooth all the way through. You try holding on to that reel with 30lbs of drag.... if it’s a big 100 pound fish and you set the drag to 30 pound you will be going overboard. That’s why the reel is so popular. Also if you get the Grease on your fingers and you touched the clutch plates you could cause more harm than you can imagine. Food for thought. Awesome video btw

These reels made for slow pitch jigging like the Rage and the JM reels before them are just cool. Not sure they're made for fishing heavy line or stout rods like most here in the US do. There's no reel seat clamp because the slow pitch rods are tiny in diameter. The PE2 and 2.5 rating is because guys in Japan, and elsewhere, fish 300 meters or more sometimes and really utilize drag when fighting fish. Awesome reel, not sure how well it fits most fisherman here, but it's badass.

don't be fooled by it's good looks. These reels can fish heavy, I spool mine with PE8 (100+lb) to match its 40kg (Maxel's figure) drag. The bigger Rage reels have a reel clamp, only the smallest R25H doesn't.

@TackleAdvisors
@TackleAdvisors 5 жыл бұрын
Generally that is a result of the antireverse clutch getting contaminated with grease or oil. Or heavily greased clutches whose internal springs are wearing or losing their spring tension. Fully cleaning the cylinders top and bottom as well as the clutch housing is the only way to tell if it's fixable... Top and bottom of the cylinder need to be clean so they can move in and out... If you look at the way the clutch is designed.. And visualize how to clean the tops and bottoms... Its pretty tricky

@tackle advisors what’s wrong with a spinning reel if it makes a noise only when line is on the rotor?
@TackleAdvisors
@TackleAdvisors 5 жыл бұрын
Usually it's the line roller bearing in need of cleaning and replacing....Very common especially in the salt. Less common would be the pinion support bearings needing replacment.....as a load is put on the line roller it tries to distort the axis of the rotor....sometimes it's enough to impact damaged parts of the bearings......Line roller is the most common problem

@westong1763
@westong1763 5 жыл бұрын
Tackle Advisors it’s most likely the roller because I applied minimal pressure on the line and it made the noise. @tackle advisors I need a new baitcaster in the 130-210$ price range for bass fishing. What reel do you think I should get ? I need it to be relatively low profile. Thanks!
@TackleAdvisors

There's a few....the curado k is a big biggish. Nothing huge...but not as compact as the slx or tatula 100. Which are two other great reels. The concept z 3 is a very good very light all around reel as well. The curado k trumps every other reel in the price range in terms of refinemnt. For some applications it'll out cast everyone else too. If it were me and my money I'd say curado K or tatula 100 or Sv.

@TackleAdvisors

From what i've seen yeah....one thing to take note of is the hybrid and the handle.....I've seen some people on the interwebs have issues with the reel engaging while dropping down lead...which has damaged gears when it had engaged while the sspool was spinning....besides that....it's a sweet reel.

This or a two speed for west coast tuna?
@TackleAdvisors
@TackleAdvisors 5 жыл бұрын
Do you have experience with both? I like 2 speeds any time i'm fishing over 25lbs of drag. Especially on day two following a day of trolling, jigging and popping and night of chunking. If I'm feeling fresh or fishing at a comfy cozy drag setting...It doesn't matter The long handle and the offset t bar mean you can grip it upsidedown for even more leverage (which is why I like the new Tiagras over the older ones so much more)
@jbbad4004
@jbbad4004 5 жыл бұрын
I have but just wanted to hear your opinion on it. Reel looks bad ass and I’m liking the long handle, but you are right about the two speed being easier to handle after a long day of fishing. That low gear is a life saver when you’re feeling the aftermath from the first day. I made a mistake of not taking along my penn 40 ld2 on my last trip in San Diego and when we landed on shore I can barely lift my arms they where so stiff.

Hahahahaha! Raptors can't fish half as much drag. They suffer from a horrible "pull" mechanism. No instant anti reverse so you have to deal with the *clunk clunk clunk* while jigging. You also get a 2 speed which is useless for jigging. You have never jigged a day in your life.
