I have built a moat round my caravan , got a full drawbridge and a defensive tower both built from recycled pallets . An Englishmans home is his castle after all .

Great to see fish stocks back! I used to take my boys there for an amazing fishing-at-a-Castle experience around 2014 to 2016. We'd take a picnic. I had a rod licence and we were never questioned. We caught small roach and perch and it was so cool. Then we went in 2018 and all the fish had disappeared. Turns out there had been some pollution in 2017 which wiped them out. Thanks for sharing and great to see that (hopefully) other youngsters can have the adventures that mine did... fishing in a moat at a Castle!

My wife and I spent our first anniversary at the George in Nunney. Feeling romantic we were getting friendly in the dark when we were disturbed by a carp angler ore baiting with boilies - this was 2010 so must be a few biggies in there. A lovely place, I expect that historically it had been stocked with carp for food so there may well be big ones in there. It was fortunate that the caretaker was there so that you could get permission to fish it lots of anglers nowadays think that they've got the right to fish anywhere that they like. I speak from personal experience from people fishing on my land, if they ask I always let them but not if they don't. Some of them even get violent and I've had to call the police. I love fishing and have been doing it for over 70 years now. Good luck.

Now im not so sure if it actually allowed to fish historical canals overthere but knowing you visit the Netherlands a lot i could suggest Utrecht city center. Lots of very old waterways to explore. I emigrated so i have to call Utah waters my home now.
