Nice action. I hope that brings a smile to your face. By the way I noticed you have the same plastic fishing trays I had on my boat. Found I had to keep replacing the broken bits eg broken hinges on the lids I replaced by inserting heated metal line crimps, the black rubber seal… a little glue. Broken plastic clips to hold tray in place… replaced with some foam rubber.

Yeah the trays are pretty shit, might look at something to replace them soon

Hi. Can you please advise tje orientation of your mapping in this video? North up, heading up or course up? Did you use shaded relief on your map? How did you first determine there was structure (maps or the 2d sonar)? It appears as though you placed your anchor into the actual reef to allow the stern to just clear edge of reef - is this correct? How confident are you in retrieving your anchor after being placed into reef? Cameron
@Saltfix8 ай бұрын
Geez , details . 😂 Heading up. No shaded relief If the map goes from 8m to 15 it’s going to be rocky hard bottom Anchor was on the top of the reef in 9m wind blew me along and off a bit. Anchor placement depends on wind or current. I use a boomer Anchor. The best reef anchor you can get . Has a breakable pin so it always comes back and won’t get stuck boomeranchors.com.au/

@@Saltfix Many thanks for this reply. Good work. Is there a real time app you would recommend for determining direction and strength of current at your current location on the water? I find it hard and time consuming to do this using drift with boat, etc.. Can you also recommend some youtube videos on learning /identifying structure in relation to your boat? I am still having some learning gaps in this space. Thanks

The snapper arnt getting taken. Not at all. They are stronger than they have been in years in my book. We have had a lot of clear water this summer which they arnt that keen on. Water has been a little warmer to. Wait until it cools down a bit more and they will be back. As for Dhufish size. Fisheries can shove it. If im fishing shallow, a fish under 50 in going back. If i was out deep and got a 40cm dhu, and the thing was pretty well dead, then i would take it. As far as im aware, most people go by the rules i just mentioned now.
@Saltfix8 ай бұрын
Im with you if its shallow and the lil dhu is in good condition its going back. and from what ive seen most people are doing the same. its the whole reason I dont fish much deeper than 20m after that you get heaps of small baldies and they always die, small dhu and snap can sometimes be ok if you go slow but I hate bringing up small fish I know are dead. Id argue a lot more snapper are being caught now (and Dhu) than say ten years back , tech has got way better ,population has increased and more people are getting better from social media basically spelling out how to catch fish, IM Guilty of adding to it. yeah the clear water has been hard work. got one today in the nice green stirred up water.

people are curious, of where you are fishing, there is plenty of space out there no need to zip close by other boats unless you are marking their spot.its pretty obvious. spots come and go i just dont like them running past and scaring any fish that may be mooching
