Nice first BFT for your boat! For those bigger BFT you need to use a 2 speed reel; pumping and pulling makes the hole from the hook bigger and it’s why they can shake the hook off. Using mono as a top shot also helps with pulling hooks, it acts like a rubber band and won’t let them shake the hook off as easy.

For yellowtail Crusie around areas that hold life in 50 60 feet once your mark some good sized fish anchor up and start chumming
