That first little small overpass that you cross on the south side before you pay is really good spot for snook, you can park on the side and walk underneath the overpass. Pretty cool little spot and you don’t have to pay to fish there. Should try it out.

I heard this a lot! Next time I go I have to try that spot everyone says it’s good at the right time! I appreciate the comment and tight lines!! 🎣😁

Skyway is a great place to feed pinfish to dolphins... or occasionally when you find a school, catch 47 mackerel. Been there multiple times, tried multiple methods, and best I've caught was a lone 20" flounder and a couple just short grouper. Want fish in the Tampa Bay area without a boat? Go wade or kayak the grass flats. Trout/redfish everywhere. Found one spot where it dropped from 3 feet to 12 feet and caught a bunch of juvie gags in the 15" range in addition to what was on the rest of the flats. Stay away from the crowds at the Skyway pier-- the area is overfished and used by dolphins as a buffet when it comes to live bait.

Yeah I see a lot of different opinions about skyways I figure it’s like any other pier/spot where if you put enough time in you’ll learn it haha! I appreciate the tips I’m slowly finding spots where I can shore fish since that’s all I can do for now! Thanks for the comment and tight lines!! 😁🎣

Bring a sabiki rig also next time to get the pinfish, and white bait to cut up. Do research to learn where the grouper rock piles are located, then you can throw a live pin out to them. I enjoy your channel just letting you know little things I was taught about that place. Also try the end of the pier for Spanish mackerel and bonito and snapper. Use live greenbacks on a long shank so the Spanish don't cut you off.

I appreciate the tips!! I haven’t been back yet but I’m trying to gather more information about skyway to go back more prepared because this trip was very last minute!! Thanks for the comment and support as well! Tight lines!! 😁🎣

Bring or catch your own bait. It's super expensive if you buy it there

I appreciate the tip! I’ve actually now picked up some sabiki rigs hoping I can do well with them! 😅 thanks for the comment and tight lines!! 🎣😁

Awesome video bro, snapper bite is good there at night. Get a sabiki and catch some green backs. Fresh bait is the key for snapper. Cut em up and chum. Live or cut em up. They will let u know how they want em. Good luck and tight lines

@@JfishyYT you can still sabiki some greenbacks or whitebait even at night. Just pick a lightpost with pilings and sabiki some bait. Chum with cut greenbacks potential spots and fish on.

I won't go near those piers during the weekend. With my job I'm lucky to have week days off but I give up every other weekend. But fishing places on the week days are great. Iota of mackerel out there. Use no weight to very little and long shanked hooks. Can't wait for grouper season. Right conditions I'm taking my kayak out there
@JfishyYT7 ай бұрын
I bet dude! It’s crazy how packed it gets like I said my first time there and now I know 😅 I sometimes have time during the week so I’m gonna have to run it back there! But thanks for the tip and the grouper bite there seems like it’s on fire you gotta get out there!! I’m sure you’ll limit out on snapper in an hour lol thanks for the comment! Tight lines!! 😁🎣

I went kayaking out under the skyway & had a blast. Limited out on mangroves, with the smallest being 13". Most was in the 15" range, with one 17" at the top end. Watch the current & waves though. I watched a freighter go through and the water slapped the piling about 5 feet up. Don't get between that wake and concrete.
