Hi Brian, I am well into your videos, I will be 77 in July, learned my fly fishing with an old Greenheart rod, was taught to tie flies when I was about 6. I am from Northern Ireland however, I am stuck in Asia due to the Bug, I have an impaired immune system so I can't travel. I always bring my fly tying kit wherever I go. I have tied just over 2,800 flies since August 2020. I will have to live until I am about 174 to use up all my flies. I watched your video about reels earlier today and I really enjoyed it however, it's time for a confession about my fishing. 99% is for trout and the rest is Salmon, I own just under 1 mile of the river Maine in Northern Ireland. It has great brown trout fishing and enjoys a decent run of Salmon however, the cream is the run of Dollaghan Trout every year. This is excellent fly fishing with some running up to 15 pounds and more but, they average about 5 pounds. I also fish the big Irish lakes and love every minute of it. Now for my confession I usually fish 9.5 to 10 feet with a size 6 line ok so far, my reels on the other hand are Garcia Mitchell 710 automatics. Yep a bit over weight but for the big fish they are fantastic, I was introduced to them by a fishing Buddy ( RIP ). and fell in love and still am. I love your whole approach to our sport and you cheer me up every day here. Perhaps when this bug ends up on a hook and things get back to normal and I manage to get home you guys, might fancy a go at the Dollaghan. Please feel free to fish my place. I will think about a Question and perhaps I might get a Hat. Tight Lines Stay Safe. Reg Kane

I am a total beginner but I have a fly rod and reel with a floating line and a leader. So for my first practice I went to the castle river here in Alberta to practice casting. I tied a royal coachman on and chose a wide shallow section of the river with ripples. I worked the line back and forth a couple times and landed the fly in the ripples…bang…14 inch rainbow. My first ever cast….lol

Learning sooo much. Question: if you are using an 8wt rod/line... to fish steelhead... what leader/ tippet set up should you use (9ft rod length). Thank you for a your lessons... have learnt more about FF from you in 2 weeks... than in 5 years of self learning. And really getting into Nymphing via your Brian Humphreys connection. Never used split shot before or even heard of a Bow Cast.

I am still tying my own leaders/tippet...love knots. but your rod to leader length and fly size and its connection to tippet size changed my casting game completely.

Yet another thoroughly entertaining, and informative show. As I've mentioned before, I'm a novice and would love to fly fish for saltwater mullet, which come in abundance, in inches of water at certain places here in my hometown of Penarth, U.K. I guess they feed on stuff churned up by the waves, maybe plankton, or small sea lice, but having tried a number of methods, I've yet to catch one. Any ideas? Also if I'm the first questioner from the UK, could I please have a free cap etc.. to promote your wonderful service over here? Cheeky I know, but if you don't ask..... Many thanks. Ray

Black Bass will eat absolutely anything that moves. If tiny aliens were to land tomorrow, we'd have to warn them about swimming in the local watering hole, because there's a pond walrus in there just waiting to cause a diplomatic incident. "Yeah, I used to throw it scraps after dinner. Now it's grown to such proportions that it chases small children around Wal-Mart in an electric scooter."
