Fishing jigs is a great technique for cold water winter bass fishing. Jig fishing is always good for targeting big bass, but learning how to fish jigs in cold water can be a challenge. Anglers don't often get that many bites during the winter when fishing a jig, but they are usually big bass. In this vlog video, we are on a Texas lake fishing 1/2 and 3/8 oz flipping jigs in natural colors and black and blue. These fish are positioned around heavy cover like docks and wood that are positioned not far from main lake creek channels. This will allow bass to move back and forth from the creek channel and move more shallow to forage on shad, bluegill and crawfish that are hiding in the cover in around 4-6 feet of water. When fishing these jigs in the winter, it's best to give some short hops off the bottom but let the jig sit on the bottom for a few seconds. Try to target big pieces of cover and let the jig skirt flow in the water on the bottom. Big bass find a jig very appealing because of the big profile it puts out when the skirt is relaxed. We filmed this right before a big cold front was coming in and in was under misty and cold conditions and dirty stained water. I hope these tips and techniques help you catch some big bass in the cold weather, see you on the next fishing adventure!

Fish this lake all the time and the reason all the grass died is due to a bunch of chemicals they put in to kill it all. But it's finally growing back after many years. So glad you fished here so I will know what and where to fish in about two days when I go

Good video. Justin or any LFG fans. Why is it that a black & blue jig usually work so good? I have seen it work better than a craw or bream color even though I have seen both craw and bream in the water. I have heard couple reason but just wondering what your thoughts were or any other LFG fan. Keep up the good work. Hope everyone has a great Christmas and Happy New years.

I'm going to be focusing on jigs this year. My thought is to start with swim jigs, then branch out from there. I got 3 to start. 1 is a bluegill color that very closely matches the color of the bluegill in the lakes I fish. The other's are a shad color and black/blue.
@silverdropstang
@silverdropstang 5 жыл бұрын
For jigs, all you need is 2 colors. Green Pumpkin, Black Blue. Cast, slowly raise rod tip to the 11:00 position. Reel up slack. Since its winter let set there for about 15 sec without moving it at all. Repeat motion. You WILL catch a bass if they are around🎣🎣
