Fishing for Big Blue Fin Tuna Land Based of the rocks - EP49

The boat was out of action with some serious repairs going on with the Trailer. Not to worry, headed down to the local harbour wall and the Tuna were going off! small micro baits had moved inshore and all manner of pelagics were having a feast, Mac and Long tail Tuna, spotted and school mackeral all sighted in the one morning! hooked into a few school and spotted mackeral but was having trouble getting the Tuna to bite.
I let my 40gram sure catch Knigt flutter down in the feeding school of Tuna. The line came tight, the Bluefin had taking it on the drop! Fish on. After a good battle, with the go pro dieing, change battery mid fight and stumbling around in thongs the Sushi was now on the rocks. Hope you enjoy the Action.

Nice. What do you do to prepare it for the plate. I’m only asking because I’ve kept one 20 years ago. Basically keeping a couple for crabbing but letting them mostly go 🍺🍺

Hi Downunderfulla, i like to bleed by cutting deep behind the pectoral/side fine on both sides. Found it bleeds much better than necking the fish. Cut the fillets off later and skin it. Cut the dark bloody meat out fown the middle. You will see the color difference. I cook it up like steak pan fry, well done, or medium rare and serve with some salad. Steak of the ocean!

Hi Zac couldnt tell ya, but spring time goes pretty good. Best with NE winds, but i think of late has been abit of a SE cool change
